Consolidated Resorts Timeshare says Bankruptcy Will Not Affect Timeshare Owners

Author: Jason Tremblay

Consolidated Resorts Inc., a Las Vegas based timeshare company along with its affiliated companies, has commenced the process of filing for Chapter 7 protection this week in Nevada bankruptcy court. A Chapter 7 liquidation filing means that trustees will sell the timeshare company’s assets and then apply the proceeds to repay debtors.

Last month Consolidated Resorts Timeshare Company announced it was closing its sales and marketing offices but that the resorts would remain open for timeshare owners. Consolidated spokesman Ken Chupinsky told The Las Vegas Sun, “…timeshare interval owners will continue to have full use and enjoyment of the resorts.”

According to officials at Consolidated Timeshare Resorts, a management company that has not filed for bankruptcy protection will run the condominium associations that are responsible for each resort, adding that resorts are owned by the timeshare owners. Ken Chupinsky was quoted in The Las Vegas Sun as saying, “This has nothing to do with the timeshare owners. The timeshare owners are in fine shape.”

The timeshare company pointed to lack of financing available to timeshare owners to purchase new timeshares and a dwindling inventory as contributing to the problem. Consolidated Timeshare Resorts includes 14 timeshare properties; 3 that are Las Vegas timeshare resorts, 1 Orlando timeshare resort and 9 Hawaii timeshares.

It is hard to predict what the immediate or long-term responses will be by timeshare buyers and sellers.

Hawaii Timeshare Units Safe, but Closing the Iliaki Hotel Feels Like the End of an Era

Author: Jason Tremblay

“Book ‘em, Danno.” If you don’t remember anything else about the TV show, “Hawaii Five-O,” you probably remember this command issued at the end of almost every episode by McGarrett (actor Jack Lord) to the young police officer, Danny Williams (actor James MacArthur).

The popular police drama aired from 1968 to 1980 and helped bring the allure of the Hawaiian Islands into millions of American homes on a weekly basis. At the time the show began, Hawaii was still a recent addition to the US, having held statehood less than 10 years. Many fans of the show followed it as much for the scenic views and flavor of the islands as for the storyline and characters.

Most episodes of Hawaii Five-O were shot in Honolulu and other locations on the island of Oahu, and every week, the opening credits included images of the skyline along Waikiki Beach and a pensive McGarrett standing on the balcony of the penthouse suite at the Ilikai Hotel. This week, the Ilikai Hotel announced its closing, shutting down some 200 hotel rooms. Within the resort complex are approximately 800 more timeshare units and private condos which will remain open.

Shell Vacations Club Hawaii Timeshare

Shell Vacations Club at Waikiki Marina Resort at the Ilikai timeshares are fully operational and continue to be an ideal location for enjoying a Hawaii timeshare vacation. While it is no secret that the troubled economy has hurt Hawaii tourism with many vacationers opting to save the airfare and vacation closer to home, Hawaii hotels have been hit the hardest. Hawaii timeshares have also felt the impact, but to a lesser degree as many Hawaii timeshare owners see their vacation ownership as prepaid vacation accommodations at a locked-in price.

A Timeshare Might Solve President Obama’s Vacation Dilemma

Author: Jason Tremblay

The New York Times says the Obama family is looking for a place for their summer vacation. Word is, they have already narrowed down the destination to Martha’s Vineyard, but may not have arranged their actual vacation lodging. As pointed out in a New York Times article, “President’s Vacation: Not Much of a Secret,” the Obama’s, (unlike many of the past Presidential families) do not own a vacation home.

So where exactly the Obama family will be staying during their August vacation remains in question. Will it be a hotel? A private residence? A quaint bed and breakfast?

How about a timeshare, Mr. President? With a timeshare, you can bypass the time and energy spent in vacation planning and scheduling, and go straight for some vacation relaxation.

Vacationing Celebrities and Dignitaries Boost Local Economies

In 1993, President and Mrs. Clinton (who also did not own a vacation home) vacationed in Martha’s Vineyard, staying at the Mansion House hotel. In advance of their arrival, the hotel’s owner hung a banner, welcoming the Clintons for their 10-day vacation stay. According to the New York Times, Charles J. Ogletree, a law professor at Harvard and summertime resident at Martha’s Vineyard says, “The rumor mill (about where the Obama’s will stay) is rampant …”

Wherever a Presidential family is vacationing, businesspeople in the area view it with anticipation, calling a Presidential visit, “… great for business … like our own islandwide recovery package.”

Timeshare is a Logical and Luxurious Solution to the Vacation Dilemma

If you, like the Obama’s, and the majority of other Americans, do not own a vacation home, don’t let that stop you from enjoying a fabulous summer retreat. Buy timeshare resales or enjoy a timeshare rental and experience all the benefits of vacation ownership without any of the year-round maintenance hassles and responsibilities.

Timeshares and timeshare resales make sense in any economic climate, but they have never been a better solution than they are right now. Despite the challenges of the economy, vacationing is still critical. As President Obama himself points out, “The most important thing you need to do is to have big chunks of time during the day when all you’re doing is thinking …” If not, he said, “… you start making mistakes or you lose the big picture.”

Caribbean Timeshare in Jamaica, Maybe Sooner than You Think

Author: Jason Tremblay

Club Caribbean Jamaica timeshare resales and timeshare rentals.

The Jamaican government is not wasting any time pushing forward their efforts to expand in the Caribbean timeshare market. On July 1, the Jamaican Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, announced at the weekly Post Cabinet press briefing in Kingston that the initiative (to move timeshare forward quickly) is part of the Jamaican government’s continued efforts to increase foreign exchange earnings. He went on to add, according to the Jamaican Information Service, that vacation ownership legislation will speak directly to fractional ownership of property in resort areas.

Minister Bartlett explains, “It’s (timeshare) a very powerful programme that has brought thousands of visitors into countries and has brought huge investments.” He pointed out that the Jamaican government is working to address (in advance) the types of issues that can arise when existing real estate laws are applied to timeshares and fractionals.

Caribbean Timeshare is Important to Local Economies

Jamaica, like other countries in the Caribbean, relies heavily on tourism dollars, and it makes sense that strengthening and refining Jamaican timeshare regulations will go a long way to attracting more timeshare developers, more timeshare buyers and renters, and more timeshare tourists dollars spent in all aspects of the country’s vacation industry.

Will You See President Obama During Your Disney Timeshare Vacation?

Author: Jason Tremblay

Just in time for the July 4 holiday, Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom unveils its newest addition to the Hall of Presidents attraction. “Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the President of the United States, Barack Obama!”

Spend your next July 4 holiday enjoying a Disney Vacation Club timeshare resale.

The Hall of Presidents attraction in the Magic Kingdom theme park officially unveils the animatronics version of President Obama today. The popular attraction has been closed during a period of updating in which a number of changes have been made. The President Obama replica is the first of the presidential animated figures to use sophisticated new technology that makes his movements even more lifelike than those of the figures of other Presidents in the attraction.

Also new is a segment in which select US Presidents speak as though they are addressing the nation following historic events. President Lyndon B. Johnson speaks after the assassination of President Kennedy; President Bill Clinton speaks following the bombing at the Oklahoma City Federal Building, and President George W. Bush addresses the citizens of New York after the 9-11 attacks.

According to Ryan McClung, reporting on www.lifthill.com, a blog about theme parks and thrill rides, the messaging of the attraction has also changed to emphasize the fact that your greatest dreams can be realized, even if it is the dream to become the President of the United States.

Before you get a sneak peak at the newest addition to the Disney Hall of Presidents (video below), you may want to learn more about how you can realize your vacation dreams by becoming a Disney Vacation club timeshare owner.

Orlando Timeshare Developer Played Landlord to Michael Jackson

Author: Jason Tremblay

For all the stories coming out now about the life (and death) of music icon Michael Jackson, one of the more intriguing comes from timeshare developer, David Siegel.

Siegel is the founder and CEO of Westgate timeshare and Westgate Vacation Villas, based in Orlando, Florida. Over the years, the theme parks made Orlando a favorite vacation destination for pop king, Michael Jackson, but with his fame and notoriety, he couldn’t exactly enjoy a quiet stay in an Orlando hotel or Orlando timeshare. So he rented private property.

And no residential location in the Orlando area is any more private that the exclusive mansions behind the guarded gates of Isleworth, located in a corner of the Orlando area, in the tiny town of Windermere. In addition to being home to Jacqueline and David Siegel, Isleworth‘s famous residents include Ken Griffey Jr., Shaquille O’Neal, Tiger Woods, and a host of other ultra-wealthy celebrities and business moguls who own homes there. But it was one of the two Isleworth homes of Westgate timeshare’s Siegel that appealed to Jackson most among the cloistered mansions, possibly because it is located on a four-acre private island—and privacy is what Jackson stressed mattered most.

So from time to time, Michael Jackson and his entourage would contact Siegel and request to rent the Siegel family’s little 26,000 square-foot home with its 60-foot heated pool bordered in real gold and its 1700 feet of shoreline along the pristine freshwater of the Butler Chain of Lakes. With every Orlando visit, there was always the caveat that Siegel was to tell no one about Jackson’s presence, and for the weekly rental rate of $15,000, Siegel had plenty of motivation to honor the pop star’s request.

Which is why David Siegel found it so amazing, that after all the pledges of secrecy, soon after arriving at the Florida retreat, Jackson would be spotted on the roof of the home. As Siegel explained to FOX News Orlando, “He said he’ll take it under the condition that nobody knows he’s here. I didn’t tell anybody. He moves in. Within a day, he’s up on top of the house waving at boaters!”

How long do you think it takes, in Orlando, Florida, already known as Hollywood East because of the movie production and music recording industry based there, for paparazzi to identify the King of Pop standing on the widow’s walk of a two-story mansion, waiving one gloved hand to the recreational boaters just off shore?

And if you are thinking about enjoying the sunny weather, theme parks, and sparking lakes of Orlando and Central Florida yourself, but you are not planning on renting a private mansion, here are links to beautiful Westgate timeshares you can enjoy for a lot less money … but wherever you go, stay off the roof.

Author: Jason Tremblay

As we head into a patriotic weekend, with the July 4 holiday ahead, it is a great time to focus on timeshare resort growth in the Washington DC area.

Wyndham timeshare at the exciting new National Harbor project

The National Harbor project is a 300-acre development destination along the Potomac River in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Wyndham’s Capital Cove timeshare resort is a very special part of this project.

Although still several months from completion, timeshare units at the Wyndham timeshare Capital Cove resort are 40 percent sold out; this is exciting and positive news in today’s economy. However, it is also exciting to be able to tell you that Sell My Timeshare NOW has brand new Wyndham Capital Cove timeshares available as timeshare resales.
