Wyndham Wins Charity Award in Australia

Wyndham Vacation Ownership

Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific’s charity was recently recognized as a top performing program in the Australian hospitality industry.

The company’s philanthropy program, Wishes by Wyndham, won an award at the 2014 HM Awards, an event that distinguishes leaders in Australia’s hospitality industry. This year’s gala hosted over 600 industry leaders at Sydney Town Hall. Here, Wyndham was honored in the Service to the Community category.

CEO and Managing Director of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific, Barry Robinson said, “At Wyndham we feel strongly that it is our responsibility to do what we can to support the communities in which we operate, and it is a great honor to be recognized as a philanthropic leader in the Australasian hospitality industry.”

Over the years, Wishes by Wyndham has assisted a number of charities. To help as many people as possible, each year the program selects one a signature charity. In 2013 the program selected the Cancer Council Queensland and collected over $80,000. In 2014, they have chosen the Animal Welfare League of Queensland.

On average, 1,600 Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific employees volunteer or donate to the program. Donating is easy, as Wyndham allows their employees to contribute directly from their weekly paycheck. This system, known as the Workplace Giving program has increased the amount of money donated to Wishes by Wyndham. In fact, in the past six months, Wyndham saw a 46% increase in donations.

Robinson added, “At Wyndham, our ‘Count On Me!’ service philosophy underpins everything we do, and this includes our service to the community. I am extremely proud of our dedicated Wishes by Wyndham volunteers who go above and beyond to assist those in need.”
