Margaritaville Vacation Club – Now Accepting Reservations

The new Margaritaville Vacation Club resort in St. Thomas is now booking reservations. The timeshare resort is expected to open in August and can begin hosting guests at that time.

Owned and operated by Wyndham Vacation Ownership, the Margaritaville Vacation Club in St. Thomas started construction about a year ago.

The new property was built upon the former Renaissance Grand Beach Palace, which had been closed since 2004. Renovations have moved along as expected and Wyndham spokesperson, Lindsay Hodges, states that they are right on schedule to open in August. These plans are also taking into account the new Margaritaville restaurant that the team included as a last minute addition. Previously, the group planned to simply renovate the existing restaurant.

Wyndham purchased the property back in 2007 for $31 million. After waiting a few years, due to the economic recession, the hospitality group partnered with Jimmy Buffett to open the flagship resort.

The entire project is expected to cost more than $100 million. Construction will happen in two phases. The first phase will be to renovate 70 beachfront units, along with the pool, pool bar, marketplace, Margaritaville restaurant, lobby, retail shop, dive shop, and sales office. The second phase will be to renovate the remaining hotel rooms into timeshare condos. When the resort is completely finished, it will hold 262 condos.

An important focus for Wyndham during this renovation will be “going green.” As one of the largest and most influential hospitality brands, Wyndham is consistently working to improve energy efficiency and conservation at their resorts.

Through the Wyndham green program, the Margaritaville resort will have self-sufficient water and electric systems, powered by V.I. Water. Wyndham will also implement LED efficiency lighting throughout the resort and HVAC controls to conserve energy when doors and windows are open.

Although the resort is not open yet, timeshare point packages are already available through Wyndham and SellMyTimeshareNow.com. Once the resort is up and running, timeshare rentals should also become available.
