New Study Reveals Top 25 Timeshare Resales

Sharket.com, a market research firm, recently conducted a study to examine the highest performing timeshare resales. The study, “Top 25 Timeshare Resorts,” ranked the most popular properties and their average sales prices on the secondary market.
The intention of this study was to provide information for both timeshare buyers and sellers. For sellers, this information may help you to understand the average sales price for your resort, or a comparable unit. For buyers, this information can help you to understand the market asking price. Please note that although this study may provide you with background information for a future resale transaction, every sale is different.
The research firm used transactional data from a large database of over 1,400 resorts. The data was gathered from January 2013–July 2014.The resorts were ranked by the amount of resales and average resale price.
The study also labeled each resort with a Saleability Score™. These scores were determined by combining the resorts’ “Sales Count Score” and “Median Price Score.” These scores were rated on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 as the lowest/worst score and 10 as the highest.
Resorts from Disney Vacation Club, Hilton Grand Vacations Club, and Marriott Vacation Club filled the top 10. This list also included Westin resorts and Hilton affiliated resorts.

“Disney Vacation Club timeshares enjoy a high number of sales and high median prices compared to other resorts. Disney resorts are not actually the priciest timeshares— in the top 25 that honor goes to the Westin Ka’anapali in Hawaii—but the Disney resorts have a much higher number of resales. Disney’s Saratoga Springs for example chalks up an incredible 882 resales on an annualized basis, with more than 16 resales occurring every week on average.”
