Marriott’s Crystal Shores to Add New Beachside Units

After years of postponements, Marriott’s Crystal Shores resort will complete its renovations and addition of two new towers. The Marco Island, Florida property plans to offer 148 new units at the resort by fall of 2017. The new accommodations will be complemented by a new tiered swimming pool as well, with views of the beach and Gulf of Mexico directly behind.
“True to form, the plan is coming together as envisioned,” said Ed Kinney, VP of Public Relations for Marriott Vacation Club. “We didn’t pull the plug, we just put it on the back burner. We were still committed to completing it.”
The announcement of the project’s completion comes after years of postponed plans due to economic instability. Marriott purchased the property in 2006, with plans to renovate in 2009. The effects of the Great Recession halted those renovations periodically over the following years, but now Marriott will finish the project.
The new additions to Marriott’s Crystal Shores resort will involve two brand new towers. The first, called Tower C, will add 89 two bedroom units and 23 three bedroom units. Tower D will be slightly smaller and hold 27 two bedroom units and nine three bedroom units. The two towers will result in an extravagant expansion of the current accommodations at the resort, which only offer 65 two bedroom villas and two three bedroom villas.
New villas will include a range of modern and updated accommodations including full kitchens with stainless steel appliances, flat-screen televisions with Blu-Ray players, furnished balconies, oversized showers with multiple showerheads and more.
The updated resort will continue to be a part of the Marriott Vacation Club, which has proven to be one of the most popular vacation ownership programs in the world. With yearly occupancy rates averaging at 92%, Marriott’s Crystal Shores will undoubtedly attract more MVC members and other guests with its new units and completed resort grounds.
