Global Connections Expands Lodge by The Blue Property

Lodge by The Blue Owner

Global Connections, Inc. (GCI) purchased more land surrounding Lodge by The Blue, a family resort and skiing retreat, in Breckenridge, Colorado. The resort property expanded to include 40 more acres of the surrounding area in the Rockies. The addition, plus the resort’s original acreage of 3 acres, gives the resort property a total of 43 acres.

Lodge by The Blue is located at the base of Mount Quandry, just an hour away from Vail, Beaver Creek, and Copper Mountain, and half that distance away from A-Basin and Keystone. Fishermen and skiers make their home away from home here, and now will have more land to enjoy.

Lodge by The Blue’s developer, Global Connections President and CEO Tom Lyons, a travel club industry leader, said:

“When the additional acreage became available we jumped at the opportunity to expand the footprint of Lodge by The Blue. Our plans include growing the property but for now we are maintaining the wooded landscape to enhance our environment for our members and guests. We want to leave much of the land undeveloped to maintain its authenticity. Our eventual plan is to develop 10 acres or less of the 40 acquired.”

Global Connections plans to use the additional property at Lodge by The Blue to add a two-and-a-half-mile trail for walking and snowshoeing. They will also make the The Blue River and wetlands more accessible to guests. GCI has already added to Lodge by The Blue since they purchased the resort, and found that addition to be a success, and they’re enjoying their current redevelopment with Summit County. Lyons said:

“Since acquiring Lodge by The Blue we added the very popular Myla Rose Saloon which has increased the Lodge’s popularity, even with locals! Summit County has been wonderful to work with as we redevelop this beautiful piece of property. We are proud to be near the top on all the rankings of small resorts in the area. Our goal is to provide more resort lodging to better serve our members and guests. Our plan also includes employee affordable housing so they can live where they work.”

As well as Lodge by The Blue, GCI owns several resorts within the United States, as well as resorts in Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. To learn more about Lodge by The Blue, visit the resort’s official website.
