Hilton Grand Vacations’ First Maui Resort Announced to Open in 2021

Located on the site of the old Maui Li in Kihei, Hilton Grand Vacations has announced their newest and 10th Hawaiian timeshare property, Maui Bay Villas. This resort will be the first for the brand on the island of Maui and will open its first phase of 131 units across four buildings in the first quarter of 2021.

On over 27 acres, Hilton Grand Vacations’ Maui Bay Villas will finish the entirety of the property’s construction in mid 2027. In the end, the resort will have 388 one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites averaging 962 square feet in one- to four-story buildings, a fitness center, keika club, a clubhouse with restaurant, a grab-and-go market, a large pool, and an oceanfront beach club.

HGV President and CEO Mark Wang stated:

“Our customers consistently rank Maui as one of their top requests for expanding our portfolio of resorts, and we’re thrilled to add this spectacular destination for our owners and guests. Expanding our brand presence to a third Hawaiian Island will further support net owner growth by attracting new customers and enhancing the experience we offer our current owners.”

Though the entire property will not be completed for some time, the Hilton Grand Vacations team is already at work for its three phases of construction. In addition to 131 units, the first phase will include a clubhouse, pool, beach club, and operations building. The second phase will include four buildings home to 149 units, and the third phase will open another four buildings with 108 units. Construction is expected from September 2022 through August 2024 and November 2025 through July 2027 for the respective phases.

Sales are expected to begin the first quarter of 2020.

Project owner Kupono Partners has also discussed its role in preparing the property, which began in February 2015 when they tore down the remainder of the Maui Lu. They expect to invest $400 million in the property after receiving a seven-year extension from the Planning Commission and have recently started pre-site work.
