Bluegreen Resort Added to Ascend Hotel CollectionChoice Hotels International, Inc. has announced the addition of three more Bluegreen Vacation resorts to their Ascend Hotel Collection.

In 2013, Bluegreen Vacations became the “Official Vacation Ownership Provider” for Choice Hotels. Since then, 61 Bluegreen Timeshare Resorts have been added to Choice Hotel’s Ascend Collection including locations in Orlando, Phoenix, Cape Cod, Hawaii, New Orleans, Aruba, Las Vegas, Savanah, Miami, and Myrtle Beach. Bluegreen timeshare owners have also gained access to Choice Hotel’s 6,200 resorts.

The Ascend Hotel Collection is the up-scale segment of Choice Hotels, and an excellent choice for Bluegreen’s affiliated resorts. Since its introduction in 2008, the Ascend Collection has grown to include 121 resorts throughout the U.S., Canada, Central America, Europe, Australia, and the Caribbean.

Senior VP of upscale brands for Choice Hotels International, Mike Murphy shared,

“Bluegreen Vacations has been a fantastic partner during this past year and we are thrilled to continue to expand our agreement by adding these three fantastic destination properties to our Ascend Collection.”
“This strategic marketing alliance has allowed Choice Hotels to continue to expand into the upscale lodging tier as well as the leisure segment. Our prospering relationship with Bluegreen and the rapid growth of the Ascend Collection brand reinforces to us that our model has strong appeal with the industry as well as with guests.”

The new additions to the Ascend Collection include the Lake Eve Resort in Orlando, the Club La Pension in New Orleans, and the Hotel Blake Chicago. The Hotel Blake marks the 100th hotel in the U.S. to be added to the Ascend Resort Collection.

Club La Pension

Located in the French Quarter, Club La Pension is a stylish resort that combines the historic architecture of New Orleans with modern décor. A recent renovation updated the one and two-bedroom suites with local artwork, contemporary kitchenettes, and spa-like bathrooms.

Lake Eve Resort

Bluegreen Vacations Plans to Award Scholarships to UCF Students

Bluegreen Vacations Plans to Award Scholarships to UCF Students

In 2014, Bluegreen Vacations (Bluegreen Corporation) plans to create a scholarship program in honor of Michael Gaudiosi, a former employee who passed away late last year. The scholarships will be awarded to students currently attending the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management.

Gaudiosi served as general manager of The Fountains resort in Orlando from July 2012 to December 2012, when he passed away. Through his charismatic character and dedication to his work, he quickly became a valued manager and friend to the employees at Bluegreen Vacations.

Regional Director Howard Kitchen says, “There was just something about Michael, he could walk into a room and talk to anyone and put them at ease. At the same time, he could—in an elevated circumstance—carry himself well in the corporate environment. That’s not easy to come by.”

The team at Bluegreen feels that this scholarship is a great way to preserve the memory of Gaudiosi and his work with the company. They feel the award is something that Michael would have wanted, as he enjoyed contributing to charitable events.

Executive Assistant to the President and CEO of Bluegreen Ellen Devine describes a glowing example of his friendly personality and helpful nature. “We clicked right away – he understood the giving back/philanthropic side of business and he was extremely open to once again hosting our annual charity retreat at The Fountains in September of 2012,” stated Devine. “I remember going to breakfast during the retreat and seeing him take a broom to start mopping the floor by the eatery – I knew then he was a keeper and- more importantly- dedicated to helping others. We are so sorry that he left us so early but are thrilled that we can preserve his memory with this wonderful scholarship opportunity.”

The award will be made available to all students currently attending the University of Central Florida’s Rosen College of Hospitality Management, a leader in providing education to those pursuing a career in the industry.

The Bluegreen organization has committed to provide $15,000 towards the scholarship fund over the next 3 years. Each year 2 students will be awarded with a scholarship in the amount of $2,500.

UCF and Lori Shuff, the Director of Development at the Rosen College, are extremely excited and grateful for the gift. Shuff states, “Scholarships like this one are very meaningful to everyone here at the college.”

The first set of Bluegreen scholarships will be awarded at a formal ceremony at the Rosen Campus in February 2014.

Bluegreen Timeshares Wins with Share Happiness

Bluegreen Timeshares Wins with Share Happiness

From among nearly 11,000 entries for the 34th Annual Telly Awards, Bluegreen timeshares  is a Bronze winner with its video titled, “Share Happiness.” The 2:45 video was created in-house by the talented Bluegreen timeshare marketing team right down to the scripting, production, and soundtrack and was completed for a project budget of less than $10,000.

Bluegreen timeshares describe their Share Happiness video as, “the cinematic presentation of the company’s purpose through the experiences of Bluegreen Vacations owners, their destinations and resorts, with original video footage and original soundtrack.”

Bluegreen Timeshares Really Do Share Happiness

If you think about the plan and purpose of a family vacation, it really is about the experience of sharing happiness. The Bluegreen Resorts team did an excellent joy of communicating this message, never once talking about the number of beds or baths in a timeshare unit or whether an owner owns points or intervals… because Bluegreen Resorts clearly recognizes that as important as these details are, they pale in significance to the fact that everyone in the family smiles wider, laughs louder, sleeps sweeter, and enjoys more when they are on vacation. As the Bluegreen timeshare website explains, “We believe in the Power of Vacation. Vacations make people happier by sharing time together, smiles and memories.”

Izzy Pycher, Vice President of Creative Marketing for Bluegreen Corporation, explains, “We’re proud of Share Happiness because it’s a visual representation of who we feel we are at our core.”
