The U.S. Virgin Islands Hotel and Tourism Association (USVIHTA) recently met for the first time since the Virgin Islands were devastated by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, in order to discuss St.Thomas resort damages and recovery timelines.

Hurricane Irma tore its way through the Caribbean and Florida earlier this month, making it the second substantial hurricane to hit the U.S. this season following Hurricane Harvey. The storm wreaked havoc on popular travel destinations, resulting in massive evacuations and severe damages to infrastructure. Hurricane Irma recently had a significant impact on the Diamond Resorts properties in St. Maarten and in Florida. As the storm has now passed, Diamond Resorts International has begun to take a closer look at the damage that occurred. Luckily, all members, owners, and guests were accounted for right after the storm in both areas and Diamond Resorts continues to reach out to affected team members and their families.
