Further Proof that Timeshares Deserve More Respect

With record levels of unemployment, many people are looking for ways to add to their credentials, expand their options, and increase their appeal to prospective employers. Although there have been layoffs and cutbacks in the timeshare industry (primarily linked to the impact of declining credit lines for expansion or consumer financing), there are still new job opportunities in timeshare management, timeshare sales, and timeshare resales, and certainly reason to believe there will be even more timeshare industry opportunities as the economy rebounds.

A College Degree in Timeshares

So are you aware that you can earn a Bachelor of Science degree with a specialization in Vacation Ownership and Timeshare Management? That’s right….not just a college degree in hospitality management, but an actual specialization in timeshare.

One university offering this targeted program is Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. As the university describes its program:

“Vacation ownership and timeshare management is one of the fastest-growing segments of today’s hospitality industry, and with the largest portion of timeshare units in the U.S. located here in Florida, students in the college obtain a first-hand look at the latest industry trends. Many hotels and independent organizations throughout the world are now involved in vacation ownership and timeshare management property development, and the curriculum in this specialization focuses on not only the principles of vacation ownership and timeshare management, but the operations and strategies to best succeed in the industry as well.”

Timeshares and Vacation Ownership are a Changing Industry

At Sell My Timeshare NOW, we have always believed that timeshares and vacation ownership have not begun to reach their true potential. There are millions of timeshare owners who consistently report high levels of satisfaction with the product, but they are not necessarily the ones you hear about in the media.

As I have said before, yes, there are timeshare scams and timeshare fraud. There are, from time to time, individuals who will take your money and offer you nothing but empty promises in return. But unfortunately, there are unethical people and bad apples in every industry. While bad news tends to make headlines, there are millions of happy timeshare owners and timeshare renters vacationing, and enjoying timeshare ownership that will never be headline news.

Don’t be fooled. Timeshares are a strong industry that bring a great deal of satisfaction to many people, and if you are looking for a new career path, they could be an ideal direction for you.

Own Timeshare? Don’t Try This …

Own Timeshare? Don’t Try This …

There are many things you can do with your timeshare. You can, of course, vacation in it. You can use it for business travel or as a business gift to your best customers or clients. You can also sell timeshare, exchange timeshare, rent timeshare, and even donate timeshare.

But clearly the one thing you don’t want to ever do is use timeshare to bribe a judge. Here’s one timeshare owner’s unfortunate story:

In 2003, a San Diego man and wife were in the midst of a complicated, high-stakes divorce. When the husband in the divorce proceeding began to feel that there were just too many unexplainable and unfair rulings, including the voiding of the pre-nup agreement, which in itself cost him more than $20 million in stocks.

So the man began to do some investigating and discovered that the judge in the case had received a California timeshare at the Warner Springs Ranch as a gift from a friend, who just happened to have received it from the attorney representing the wife in this divorce hearing. Although the judge eventually disqualified himself over the conflict of interest, jurors ruled that damage was already done.

Last week, in a civil suit, the divorced man was awarded $800,000 in attorney fees when the jury found the generous attorney “negligent.”

Clearly, there are some instances in which it is a better idea to sell timeshare than to give it away under the wrong circumstances.

RCI Timeshare Exchange Employees Rebrand Themselves as ‘Losers’

RCI Timeshare Exchange Employees Rebrand Themselves as ‘Losers’

How much pumpkin pie did you eat over the holiday? A little too much sweet potato casserole or one (or several) too many buttery dinner rolls?

What a day to be talking about weight loss! But we have to commend the employees of >RCI timeshare at RCI’s Carmel, Indiana office, who have lost a combined total of more than 1,800 pounds. In a commitment to live healthier, by incorporating more fitness and a healthier diet into their lifestyles, the RCI timeshare team set out on a 12-week wellness contest.

In addition to the personal rewards gained through weight loss, exercise, and an improved diet, the efforts of the RCI “losers” served double duty. For every pound lost, RCI donated a pound of food to a not-for-profit food bank. Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Inc, then redistributed the food through more than 400 charities.

Gordon Gurnik, president of RCI timeshare North America, says, “This contest has created a tremendously positive buzz among our associates. What started out as a fun idea among a few associates quickly grew to a contest involving more than 270 associates looking to incorporate healthier activities into their day-to-day lives. Because of the fantastic response, we’re planning to roll it out at other RCI offices in 2010.”

And you can’t be an RCI timeshare biggest loser without gaining the attention of a real “Biggest Loser”. Bill Germanakos, season four winner of NBC’s hit series, “The Biggest Loser,” visited the site to celebrate the RCI timeshare exchange employees’ success.

Sell My Timeshare Now and The Timeshare Authority Wish You a Happy Thanksgiving

Sell My Timeshare Now and The Timeshare Authority Wish You a Happy Thanksgiving

Mark Twain wrote:

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.

So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Explore. Dream. Discover.”

At this time of year, when we all give pause to think about those things for which we are most thankful, I realize that I am as thankful for “possibilities” as I am for “realities”.

Yes, I am very thankful for family, friends, and good health. I am thankful for my co-workers and dedicated team at Sell My Timeshare NOW, who started out helping build my dream, but soon began to dream the dream themselves. It is not a dream to be wealthy or powerful, but instead, it is the dream of helping people realize their own dreams of special moments shared with family, adventures to new places, and the opportunity to relax more, learn more, and savor new experiences and new horizons.

Dreaming is great privilege and one for which we should all be thankful. Dreams fuel our passions. They give us inspiration, motivation, and a vision of what might be. Because of dreams, great things happen. Visionary men and women climb mountains, discover marvels, and blaze paths for other to follow.

We are almost to the end of the first decade of the “New Millennium.” It seems to have gone by in a flash. As you set sail into the next decade, don’t forget to keep dreaming. Wherever you are in your life, be thankful for those realities you treasure, and those possibilities of what is yet to come.

Happy Thanksgiving from The Timeshare Authority and all of the team at Sell My Timeshare NOW!
