Thanks to the generosity of many of the Bluegreen timeshare employees in Florida, children in the SOS Children’s Villages will find going back to school this fall a little easier.  For the fifth consecutive year, Bluegreen Vacations, (Bluegreen timeshare) is participating in the SOS Children’s Villages annual “Back to School and Ready” Campaign. During the first two weeks in August, Bluegreen employees, led by  the Bluegreen Employee Action Resource (BEAR) Team, collected and distributed school supplies for children in the Coconut Creek, Florida foster care program, based on a wish list provided by the children themselves.

Kristine Lenza, an executive assistant with Bluegreen, a BEAR team member, and the facilitator of the drive, explains, “I learned about SOS through my previous employer, and when I came to Bluegreen and realized what a philanthropic company it is, I thought it would be wonderful to be able to do something for a local charity like SOS. The thing I like most about SOS is that the children are able to stay in the village until they are 18 years old and get to have a sense of “home”, unlike other foster systems where the children may get bounced from family to family and never really know where their next “home” may be. I also like the fact that if there are siblings they can stay together in the village.”

The BEAR Team in Boca Raton, Florida, like Bluegreen timeshare employees across the US, is dedicated to supporting Bluegreen’s corporate culture of giving back to the community. Bluegreen timeshare recognizes that this type of participation is a win-win that enriches the morale of Bluegreen timeshare employees while building positive ties to the community and enhancing the lives of others.

SOS Children’s Villages is the largest non-denominational children’s care provider in the world with more than 500 Villages in 132 countries, helping children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment.  Follow this link to SOS Children’s Villages International to find out what you can do to help.
