GKTW Village Undergoes Successful “Extreme Village Makeover”
Tuesday, February 18, 2014
Give Kids The World (GKTW) Village has announced the completion of their “Extreme Village Makeover”.
In January, we first brought you news of the Extreme Village Makeover scheduled for January 12–25. On January 25, the renovations were officially revealed with the help of Ty Pennington and Good Morning America.
GKTW President Pamela Landwirth shared, “With the Village being 25 years old this year, 88 of our villas were in urgent need of upgrades and repairs. Thanks to the tireless efforts of countless corporations, individuals and volunteers groups, we were able to complete the renovations so our precious wish families will all be able to enjoy a beautiful, welcoming home away from home.”
One of these helpful corporations was GKTW’s lead partner Wyndham Vacation Ownership. Wyndham, along with many other corporations and volunteers, were needed to complete the extensive project. To outline what went into this project, Give Kids The World has created an infographic which you can view below.

“It took so many people and an incredible amount of construction materials and equipment, we thought it would be interesting to put together an ‘Extreme Village Makeover’ by the numbers infographic to give everyone a mental picture of what a project like this entails,” said Michael Bausman, GKTW director of facilities resources.
An incredible 8,395 volunteer hours, 29 tractor trailers worth of furniture, and 500 contractors went into the Extreme Village Makeover. To see first-hand how the project was completed view the video recap below.
