Marriott Vacations Worldwide has announced that the acquisition of Welk Resorts has officially been completed. This acquisition of Welk Resorts, of one of the largest independent timeshare companies in North America, cost $485 million including 1.4 million MVW common shares of stock.

After 57 years, family-owned Welk Hospitality Group has agreed to an approximated $430-million acquisition offer from Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW.) This offer includes the sale of Welk Resorts’ portfolio of resort properties, vacation ownership programs, and property management contracts, as well as 1.4 million Marriott Vacations Worldwide shares. On January 1, vacation ownership and management company Welk Resorts began overseeing and managing the 16-unit Residence Club at El Corazon de Santa Fe. These units were acquired from Fairmont/Accor Hotels that managed the club for 12 years. [Read more…]

Welk Resorts has recently acquired the management contract for The Residence Club at El Corazon de Santa Fe in Santa Fe, New Mexico from Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. This transaction was officially effective on January 1, 2020.
