Hilton Worldwide Launches 100th Hotel in Latin America

Hilton Worldwide is celebrating its one-hundredth hotel in Latin America with the grand opening of the Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana. The beachfront property is also one of the largest in the area, offering 545 rooms with towering views. The Copacabana joins the Hilton Barra Rio de Janeiro as the hotel giant’s second property in the city.

Hilton Hotels now offers about 17,000 rooms across its 100 properties in Latin America, a feat made possible by pivotal deals and lucrative partnerships. The new Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana adds to the brand’s prominence through the region, as Ian Carter, president of global development, architecture, design, and construction spoke to its significance:

“The opening of our 100th hotel in Latin America solidifies our commitment to strategically expanding our footprint and introducing our industry-leading brands throughout this promising region. This milestone is a testament to the strength of our brands and the steadfastness of our teams to deliver success stories.”

The Hilton Copacabana offers guests an unbeatable location along Rio’s waterfront, just a few miles from the city’s airports. First built in 1975, the Copacabana was renovated in 2011 by Hilton Worldwide. Now boasting more than 500 rooms with amenities like free coffee, smart TVs, and minibars, the Hilton hotel provides guests with a luxury experience just steps from the city’s famous beaches and clubs. The property also showcases two swimming pools with dazzling city views and a full-service health spa.

Aside from the Hilton Rio de Janeiro Copacabana, Hilton Worldwide plans to open 20 more properties throughout Latin America alone in 2017. Executive vice president and president for Hilton’s Americas branch, Joe Berger spoke to the 100th property and to Hilton’s plans for the region:

“Hilton has been welcoming guests for nearly 100 years, as one of the most innovative and fastest growing global hospitality companies, and we are proud to be a part of this story with the opening of our 100th hotel in Latin America. With more than 70 new projects in our Latin America development pipeline, we are poised to continue our rapid growth, and further our mission to be the world’s most hospitable company – by positively impacting guests, Team Members, hotel owners, shareholders and communities in even more destinations throughout this dynamic part of the world.”
