Vacation with a Purpose at a Timeshare Resort and Spa
Monday, September 17, 2007
One of the reasons so many people enjoy timeshare vacations is because they know that the timeshares within their exchange are all first class, pleasurable and relaxing places for vacationing. When vacation days roll around, timeshare owners don’t have to hunt for a hotel deal because as timeshare owners, they have already locked in their good deal for a lifetime. Timeshare ownership means that one more time-consuming detail of vacation planning is taken care of.
But have you ever felt so tense that your usual vacation plans weren’t enough to help you unwind and relax? Sadly, that feeling is all too common in our overworked, over-worried world. And demand is growing for even higher levels of relaxation and stress relief.
Forbes online says that the trend to wellness vacations is being driven in part by retiring Baby Boomers concerned about their health. It’s also driven by the fact that most people feel that their jobs and their personal lives create more stress than they can handle.
In the article “Yoga Vacations Banking on Wellness Trend”, which looks at the rise of the yoga and wellness vacation, Forbes quoted Tiffanie Archie, a senior project manager at an online financial services firm in Washington, DC. Archie said she was looking for, “An opportunity to go somewhere and be quiet and focus on myself and let the stress melt away for a bit”. Her comments reflect the way many vacationers feel.
People like the beach for surfing, parasailing and snorkeling. They love a timeshare golf vacation or a chance to horseback ride along mountain trails. But more and more, people are turning to yoga, massage, hypnosis, and other relaxation and stress-relief techniques as part of their vacation plan.
Here is a link to a very interesting article by Brooks B. Gump, PhD, MPH, and Karen A. Matthews, PhD, which appears in Psychosomatic Medicine, titled, “Vacations May Improve Your Health“.
Dr. Gump says that research done at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh over a nine-year period, looked at 12,000 men who were at high risk for coronary heart disease.
Now here’s the part that is critical to understand: “Those with regular annual vacations had a lower risk of death during the study period relative to those skipping vacations”. Gump’s research goes on to explain that in addition to removing stress, vacations “…may work their magic by providing opportunities to engage in restorative behaviors such as interactions with family and friends and exercise.”
Okay, you’ve got the word straight from Drs. Gump and Matthews who have devoted nearly a decade to their research. Take a vacation. And if owning a timeshare makes it easier for you to schedule that vacation, then by all means buy timeshare or timeshare resales and make it happen. Don’t work your life away – literally!
