Wyndham Hotel and Wyndham Timeshare Support the Spirit of the Season through Facebook Campaign
Saturday, December 11, 2010
Wyndham Worldwide, the owner of Wyndham Hotels and Wyndham Timeshare announced the donation of $60,000 to be given to its three signature charities. Distributed in increments of $20,000 each, the charity donations will go to Christel House International, the Starlight Children’s Foundation ™ and the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps.
Funded in response to a three-month long Facebook campaign over the months of August, September, and October, Wyndham Worldwide pledged one dollar of charitable support (up to $60,000) for each person who ‘liked’ the Wyndham Worldwide Facebook page. Nearly 5500 new followers became fans of Wyndham during this time generating roughly 7000 tweets on Twitter or Facebook posts about the campaign.
In response to the consumer enthusiasm, Wyndham Worldwide committed to donating the full $60,000 as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to its new social media fans and network. Mary Falvey, executive vice president and chief human resource officer of Wyndham Worldwide explains, “This campaign not only gave us a great opportunity to provide additional funding to our signature charities, but it also allowed us to extend awareness of these great organizations within the social community. Social media has the power to inspire others to take action and we hope this campaign inspired people to support Wyndham Worldwide’s mission to help children around the globe.”
