Walt Disney Company Donates $500,000 to the Philippines Relief Effort

The Walt Disney Company donates to the PhilippinesThe Walt Disney Company has announced that it will donate half a million dollars to the American Red Cross and Save the Children to support the typhoon relief effort in the Philippines.

In addition to the substantial donation, the organization has also offered to match gifts from employees and cast members. Matching employee contributions is a generous but common activity for the organization. In fact, in 2011 Disney created a unique program known as The Disney Employee Matching Gifts, a program of the Walt Disney Company Foundation. Through this program Disney will match up to $15,000 donation per employee each calendar year.

Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, Robert A. Iger said, “Our hearts go out to the millions of people in the Philippines affected by this tragedy. We hope this donation and our employee matching gift contributions will help families begin to rebuild their lives in the wake of this devastation.”.

The Walt Disney Company is dedicated to assisting humanitarian and charitable organizations to help victims in the Philippines. Disney’s contribution will go towards supporting individuals and their children, as well as assisting in rebuilding areas destroyed by the typhoon.

This recent donation is a continued effort from Disney’s disaster preparedness and response program. Disney is a committed partner to both the American Red Cross Annual Disaster Giving Program as well as Save the Children’s Emergency fund. Their contributions help to offer funding to disaster relief services and support to the impacted families.
