Is It Too Early To Book A Trip for Summer 2015?
Tuesday, September 2, 2014
As the summer travel season comes to a close, should you already start planning next year’s vacation? According to the European trade group RDO (Resort Development Organisation), yes, you should.
Statistics are showing that September is the prime month to book summer travel, especially for family-friendly destinations. RDO’s holiday specialists are reporting that we should see an estimated 21% increase in early bookings during the month of September. These specialists expect that most of summer 2015’s peak timeshare weeks will be booked by the end of this month.
Why are travelers booking these weeks so far in advance? RDO suggests that parents are trying to avoid traveling during the school year. This conclusion is based on a recent study conducted by the BBC. According to the study, schools in the UK are fining 70% more students for unapproved absences. This pressure to avoid taking children out of school during the year makes booking in advance even more crucial.
When you make a reservation using points or floating weeks, reservations are made on a first come, first serve basis. So, in order to book these prime weeks, you’ll need to do so ASAP. Whether you live in the U.K. or the U.S., timeshare owners from all over the world will be booking at the same resorts.
If you currently own a points-based membership, you’ll typically have the option to book up to a year in advance at your home resort, or 10 month in advance at another resort in your network. This means that you should have the option to book a week for July, or maybe even August. If you are unsure that you will be able to use your timeshare next summer, you always have the option to rent the week.
