Diamond Resorts Sponsors Wounded Warrior Chad Pfeifer in the 2015 Humana Challenge

Humana Challenge

Diamond Resorts International® has announced that they will sponsor wounded war veteran Chad Pfeifer as a brand ambassador in the upcoming Humana Challenge golf tournament.

Chad Pfeifer joined the U.S. Army shortly after graduating college. He quickly advanced to the rank of corporal and was deployed to Iraq in 2007 during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

While overseas, Pfeifer was injured. Pfeifer lost his leg when his vehicle was hit by a pressurized IED (more commonly known as a pressure cooker bomb). After the incident, Pfeifer returned to the States and began physical therapy. To exercise with his new prosthetic leg, he learned how to play golf. Pfeifer was a natural and quickly picked up the game. He then went on to win the George W. Bush Presidential Center Warrior Open in 2011, 2012, and 2013.

Pfeifer will continue his professional golf pursuit with the 2015 Humana Challenge. The Humana Challenge, in partnership with the Clinton Foundation, is a pro/amature golf tournament to support Desert Classic Charities. Since 1960, this organization has raised more than $53.5 million for the Eisenhower Medical Center and other nonprofit charity organizations.

The Humana Challenge starts today and will commence on January 25, 2015 in La Quinta, California. Pfeifer will also have the help of veteran PGA Tour caddy Kip Henley. Henley participated in the 2013 Humana challenge, where he caddied for the challenge winner, PGA Tour professional, and fellow Diamond Resorts brand ambassador, Brian Gay. Coincidently,
Pfeifer also competed in the 2014 Brian Gay Invitational, presented by Diamond Resorts and sponsored by ResortRentals.com.

Diamond Resorts International® Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Michael Flaskey, said, “Chad is an inspiring role model both on and off the golf course. He recently played in the 2014 Brian Gay Invitational presented by Diamond Resorts International® and helped raise $805,000 in net proceeds to benefit the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children.”

Pfeifer shared, “I look forward to representing Diamond Resorts while playing in the Humana Challenge next week. I would also like to say a special thank you to the Clinton Foundation for their invitation to play in the tournament and represent the Wounded Warriors and their families.”

The Golf Channel also announced recently that Pfeifer would be a contestant on their reality show Big Break. This popular show follows a group of aspiring professional golfers as they compete to gain entry to professional tournaments. The opportunity to be featured on such a popular show is certainly a “big break” for Pfiefer.

Flaskey added, “Diamond Resorts International® is incredibly proud for our brand to be associated with Chad Pfeifer. He is an American hero and an inspiration to our great country. Chad and all of our country’s service men and women allow our members, owners and guests the privilege and freedom to Stay Vacationed. We wish Chad the best of luck at the Humana Challenge.”
