Wyndham Resort Denarau Island Celebrates 15th Anniversary
Thursday, April 9, 2015
Recently, the Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific Denarau Island celebrated its 15th Anniversary.
Originally a Trendwest resort, Denarau Island was the first property introduced in the Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific line. The property was purchased in 1998 from Trendwest and reopened in March 2000.
Located along the coast of Fiji, the resort boasts a private beach, 18-hole golf course, tropical gardens, restaurants, shops, and more. With its supreme location and accommodations, it’s no wonder that this is one of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific’s most popular resorts. Currently, the resort runs at a 90% occupancy rate, regardless of season or time of year. However, the resort can be even more popular during the peak holidays. During the 2014 holiday season, the resort hosted 38,000 guests.
Barry Robinson, President and Managing Director of Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific, shared that this anniversary is a huge milestone for the resort and their members.
Robinson said,
“We have spent the past 15 years making holiday dreams come true and it is exciting to be able to celebrate not one but two milestones, with WorldMark South Pacific Club also welcoming its 50,000th Owner this year.”
“Wyndham Resort Denarau Island is known for its warm, Fijian hospitality, fantastic facilities and exceptional service, which have made it a favourite among Owners and guests for many years. Consistent high occupancy rates are testament to the resort’s popularity and high level of service excellence.”
To maintain the resort’s luxury design, the property was remodeled back in 2013. The resort underwent $50 Million FJD in renovations and added 63 new units—including presidential villas with private pools. Wyndham also updated the main pool area, lobby, kids’ club, and restaurants.
Not only is this a milestone for the resort, but some of the staff are also celebrating their 15th anniversary at the Wyndham Denarau Island. The property is home to 144 hotel employees and 104 sales and marketing employees.
“It is the support and dedication of staff that make this resort such a success and we could not have reached this important milestone without their hard work and commitment to consistently providing excellent service,” Robinson said.
