Wyndham’s Greatest Shave for the Leukaemia Foundation

Wyndham Vacation Ownership

This week, a group of employees from Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific accepted the challenge to shave or color their hair for Wyndham’s Greatest Shave. The act was not a fashion statement, but a charity event to support the Leukaemia Foundation.

In anticipation for the main event, for the past few months Wyndham has been collecting money through their philanthropy, Wishes by Wyndham. In total, they raised $7,500 for the cause. Since its establishment in 2012, Wishes by Wyndham has raised more than $140,000 for charity.

In honor of her mother, Terri Sinclair was one of the first to shave her hair. Terri’s mother was recently diagnosed with a form of blood cancer known as Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.

Terri shared, “Having my mother diagnosed with Leukaemia earlier this year, the Leukaemia Foundation is a cause close to my heart so I decided to take part in Wyndham’s Greatest Shave. I have been blown away with the support from my colleagues, both with those signing up to shave or color their hair as well as those who have donated to us.”

The Leukaemia Foundation has dedicated millions of dollars towards cancer research. Their annual event, World’s Greatest Shave, has raised $20.3 million alone.

Leukaemia Foundation Regional Event Coordinator, Kim Redman said,

“The Leukaemia Foundation of Queensland is so delighted by the level of enthusiasm and support by the team at Wyndham Vacation Resorts Asia Pacific. Approximately six Queenslanders a day are diagnosed with a blood cancer and it can happen to anyone at any age at any time. Funds raised by Wyndham staff will contribute enormously to fund vital research for a cure as well as assist patients undergoing treatment through accommodation, financial and emotional assistance.”
