Vail Resorts Acquires Largest Mountain Resort in Australia

Last week, Vail Resorts announced that they have acquired Perisher Ski Resort, the largest mountain resort in Australia.

Vail Resorts purchased Perisher for $176.2 million AUS, equivalent to about $134.8 million US. This is Vail Resorts’ first international location.

Located in New South Wales, Perisher Ski Resort is the biggest and most visited ski resort in Australia. The resort attracts visitors from many of Australia’s top cities, because of it’s prime location. Travelers visit Perisher from Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra and more.

Through the acquisition, Vail Resorts procured multiple resort areas, including: Perisher Valley, Blue Cow, Smiggin Holes, and Guthega. The resort also offers a lessons area, retail store, lodging, dining, and transportation.

This will become the 11th resort within the Vail Resorts management company. In addition to Perisher, the company operates mountain resorts in Vail, Breckenridge, Beaver Creek, Keystone, Park City, Canyons, Lake Tahoe, Northstar, Mt. Brighton, Kirkwood, and Afton Alps.
