Bluegreen Vacations

Bluegreen Vacations has announced the results of their four annual charity golf tournaments. In total, the timeshare company raised over $133,000 for charities, including Christel House, JDRF, and more.

The first tournament of the year took place at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on May 16th. The event included a silent auction, a casino night, and the golf tournament. 106 golfers competed in the tournament, helping to raise $70,321.76 for charity.

Co-chairs for the Boca Raton event, Ellen Devine and Martha Storey, shared, “Each year, an extremely generous group of individuals and businesses support us at the Boca tournament events. The Friday night casino and silent auction at the Boca tournament were huge successes and we and the Golf Committee are so thankful for the sponsors of that event.”

For the second event, Bluegreen Vacations hosted the 9th Annual RCI Christel House Open in Daytona Beach, Florida on June 7th. The event also included a casino night and silent auction, which took place the night before the tournament at Bluegreen’s Daytona SeaBreeze Resort. Throughout the weekend, Bluegreen raised $15,000 for Christel House.

The next day, the Bluegreen team in Myrtle Beach hosted their 13th Annual RCI Christel House Open. At this event, Bluegreen welcomed 100 golfers to the tournament and raised over $21,000.

The Branson team hosted the final Christel House Open on June 18th, for the 3rd consecutive year. In addition to raising more than $27,000 for Christel House, Bluegreen donated 10 percent of the proceeds to local charities. Bluegreen chose three local charities: Christian Action Ministries, H.O.P.E. (Helping Overcome Pediatric Emergencies), and Wreaths Across America, Springfield.

Devine and Storey continued,

“Bluegreen has been hosting charity golf tournaments benefiting Christel House since 2000. Our first golf tournament had 50 golfers who helped raise $5,000. The second year 91 golfers helped raise $10,000. Christel DeHaan, Christel House founder, visited our third annual charity golf tournament, which we believe helped set the stage for her organization to expand internationally. Since then, Christel House has grown their tournaments to over 1,500 golfers at 13 tournament sites on four continents.”

Bluegreen’s Chief Financial Officer, Tony Puleo, added,

“Events of this nature have been a long-standing tradition for Bluegreen and guide us on our journey to social responsibility and ‘giving back. Sponsors and golfers keep coming back year after year, and we are pleased to support Christel House, JDRF, and other local charities and organizations in the communities in which we do business.”
