Palace Resorts established its nonprofit organization, Palace Foundation, in 2004 based in Cancun, Mexico. In 2015 alone, the organization has awarded 75 scholarships, fulfilled more than 125 dreams for terminally ill children, assisted with the protection of 2,221 turtle nests, and has provided healthcare to 3,700 people through different types of therapies and 1,611 locals with medical care.
In late November 2015, Palace Foundation unveiled “Casa Hogar”, an orphanage for local Mexican children which will open its doors in January 2016. Managed and operated by The Palace Foundation, the orphanage’s objective is to provide at-risk children in need of shelter a formal education and healthcare.
“We are very proud of The Palace Foundation and believe the organization’s efforts are a testament to the company’s commitment to positively impact the communities our properties are located in throughout Mexico and the Caribbean. It is our hope that Casa Hogar will provide children in need with the opportunity for a better tomorrow, and we would like to thank the hard work of our valued employees and respected partners who helped bring this project to life,” said Gibran Chapur, Executive Vice President of Palace Resorts.
Casa Hogar consists of eight villas that can hold up to 96 children ranging from 11 months old to 11 years old, with each villa holding 12 kids. In addition to the villas, there will be an administrative building, three classrooms, a counseling center, medical office, special needs area, chapel, kitchen, dining room, playroom and computer center. The grounds will also include a farm, garden, swimming pool, green areas, and a covered basketball court.
