Wyndham Rewards Now Extend to Timeshares and Vacation Rentals

Wyndham’s popular loyalty program, Wyndham Rewards, now has a larger audience. The hospitality giant is extending rewards to timeshares and vacation rentals within Wyndham Vacation Ownership and Wyndham Destination Network, respectively. Members of Wyndham Rewards can now redeem points at any of Wyndham’s 25,000 properties.

Wyndham Rewards has traditionally only been available through Wyndham’s 8,000 hotel properties. However, members can now redeem points for stays at hotels, vacation rentals, and timeshare accommodations universally. The move comes as another phase of Wyndham’s efforts to revamp its loyalty program, which began back in 2015. The company is now taking a simpler, more streamlined approach to rewards, and extending those rewards to other properties will only open the possibilities to more members.

As of right now, nothing has changed in terms of the value of Wyndham Rewards points. The flat rate of 15,000 points per night still applies to hotel rooms, while condo rentals and timeshares will offer free nights at a rate of 15,000 points per night, per bedroom.

However, members can still only earn those points through hotel stays. For example, a guest may still use points for a free night at a Wyndham timeshare, but they’ll have to earn those points through hotel stays. Wyndham plans to extend the earning facet of the loyalty program to condo and home rentals by summer of next year, while Wyndham timeshare owners will have to wait until 2018 to start accumulating rewards points.

Overall, Wyndham’s overhaul of their rewards program has been well-received. Last year, before the changes started to take place, the brand counted 40 million members. Now, that number has grown to 48 million, and is expected to grow as Wyndham Rewards begins to expand into vacation rentals and timeshares.
