Tuesday, November 8, 2016
Interval Leisure Group (ILG), owner of popular timeshare brands such as Hyatt, Sheraton, and Westin, has named a new CEO and president of their vacation ownership operations. Sergio D. Rivera will be stepping into the role to oversee ILG’s existing timeshare properties and the development of new ones.
Rivera’s specific duties will consist of leading vacation ownership development, but he will also take charge of sales, marketing, and resort operations for Vistana Signature Experiences and Hyatt Vacation Ownership. Rivera has been a member of the ILG board of directors since May, and will report to ILG’s chairman, president, and CEO, Craig Nash.
Nash said of Rivera’s promotion:
“I have known and respected Serge for over two decades, having worked closely with him when he led Starwood’s vacation ownership division. As we execute our strategic plan, ILG will greatly benefit from his extensive background in both hospitality and resort development.”
Rivera has recently headed The Americas division for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, and previously served as CEO of Starwood Vacation Ownership. He has more than 25 years of experience in real estate development, finance, design, operations, marketing and sales, and branding.
He currently directs Welltower, Inc., a publicly-traded real estate investment trust that invests in senior housing operators, post-acute providers, and health systems. It is unclear when he will be stepping into his new role at ILG.
