Ground Breaks on New Margaritaville Resort Orlando
Wednesday, August 2, 2017
The new Margaritaville Resort Orlando is officially underway. On July 27th, officials broke ground at the site of the future resort during a festive ceremony that included Margaritaville executives and representatives from Encore Capital Management. The groundbreaking kicks off the beginning of the $750 million project that’s expected to bring 187 new suites to the Orlando area.
The ceremony featured live entertainment from Radio Margaritaville’s DJ Spradlin as well as from steel drummers and stilt walkers. Attendees were also able to enjoy a Margaritaville-inspired spread that included Landshark Lager and tropical drinks.
The 300-acre resort will be no small feat. Plans for the property include a 30,000 square foot event space, 200,000 square feet of dedicated retail space, a complete entertainment and dining district, a water taxi transportation system, and much more. Also featured as part of the Margaritaville Orlando Resort will be a 12-acre water park and scenic wooded fitness trails. In addition to the 187 hotel units, numerous vacation homes, luxury villas, and cottages will also be built.
The massive vacation complex aims to be completed in 2018. Jim Bagley, project developer of Margaritaville Orlando Resort, said:
“This is an exciting day for Margaritaville Resort Orlando and sharing great food, drinks and fun is the best way to celebrate breaking ground on our Margaritaville-branded hotel. Soon travelers from all over the world can escape to paradise with an unforgettable Margaritaville vacation in the heart of Orlando.”
