RCI Affiliates Recognized for Sustainability Efforts

RCI

Global leader in external exchange, RCI, has announced the winners of this year’s RCI® Green Award program. This is the seventh year that his program has existed and recognizes the most environmentally-conscious resorts within RCI’s extensive network through audits of sustainable practices.

These audits assess a number of practices including energy and water conservation, waste management, and community outreach. The evaluation process is completed by third-party exo-certification expert, GreenCircle Certified, LLC.

“Our affiliates are in the great position to be at the forefront of sustainable hospitality practices,” says Brian Bruno, Vice President of Content and Brand Marketing for RCI and head of the brand’s sustainability program. “At RCI, we’ve help to make the environment a top priority, and by recognizing those resorts that have gone above and beyond expectations, there’s an even greater incentive among them to go green. These affiliates prove sustainable innovations are worth it and show that resort luxuries and amenities do not have to be sacrificed when implementing green practices.”

Carlsbad Seapointe Resort in Carlsbad, California was the Silver RCI Green Award recipient. The resort donates used soap bars and other bottled amenities to impoverished countries rather than throwing them away. They also installed solar heating for their swimming pools and pool restrooms.

The Gold RCI Green Award was given to Wyndham Royal Sea Cliff on The Big Island of Hawaii. This is the resort’s second year in a row being recognized at this level. Wyndham Royal Sea Cliff boasts stunning botanical gardens that are highly popular among visitors. The plants are all mapped out on Google Earth, making it easy for guests to navigate using their smartphones. The staff at Wyndham Royal Sea Cliff also participated in the clean-up efforts along the nearby historic Kua Mo’o Trail.

Wyndham Brand at the Meadows in Missouri earned the top rating for a second year in a row with the Platinum RCI Green Award. The resort’s staff have all completed sustainability training and work hard to implement various strategies on-site, such as using green cleaners.

The RCI Green Award program is open to all RCI affiliated resorts in North America. Learn more about RCI and their exchange program by visiting their official website.
