A New Disney Resort With Nature-Inspired Themes Announced for Bay Lake
Friday, October 19, 2018
In 2022, a new Disney Resort is set to open on Bay Lake between Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. This nature-inspired, mixed-use resort will be added to the list of Disney World construction, which includes three other resorts and over 1,700 new hotel rooms and Disney Vacation Club villas.
This yet-to-be-named resort will be the 16th Disney Vacation Club property with over 900 hotel rooms and proposed DVC villas with a variety of accommodation types.
Disney Vacation Club’s Senior Vice President and General Manager Terri Schultz stated:
“This resort experience will be a celebration of Walt Disney’s lifelong love and respect for nature, with some fun and even surprising accommodation types that families will find irresistible. It will give our members and guests yet another opportunity to stay in close proximity to all the newest attractions and experiences in our theme parks, and with the flexibility, value and world-class service families expect from Disney.”
Since the success of Disney’s World of Avatar and Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the entertainment company has worked tirelessly to provide their guests with new attractions and accommodation options across their property.
In 2019, Coronado Springs Resort will debut its new design with a new 15-story tower that will overlook Lago Dorado, house 545 new guest rooms, and features a rooftop panoramic restaurant. The existing 1,800 guest rooms have been updated with new furnishings and finishes to match their new designs. Additionally, the 15th DVC property and the first all DVC property at Walt Disney World since 2004, Riviera Resort, will open in the same year. It will have a variety of accommodation options in its 300 units and will be connected to Disney’s much anticipated Disney Skyliner.
Even before the opening of Disney’s Hollywood Studios Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attraction in 2019, the park is already working on a connecting hotel that will completely immerse guests in an authentic Star Wars experience. Visitors will be able to interact with characters, dress in proper Star Wars attire, and so much more.
Walt Disney World Resort President George A Kalogridis added about their expansions:
“Walt Disney World is in the midst of our most significant expansion in the last two decades and the combined 1,700 new hotel rooms and proposed Disney Vacation Club villas we are building at four different resorts will create thousands of new construction and permanent jobs and will drive economic opportunity and incremental revenue for Central Florida. We continue to add new attractions, new lands — and these beautiful accommodations will be right in the heart of all that magic.”
