Affiliated RCI Resorts Earn Sustainability Awards

RCI

Leading timeshare exchange company RCI has just announced their eighth annual RCI Green Awards program winners, which recognizes RCI-affiliated sustainable businesses in the hospitality industry. With the help of third-party eco-certification expert GreenCircle Certified, winners were chosen based on their waste management, energy and water conservation, environmental management, and community outreach.

RCI’s VP of Content and Brand Marketing Brian Bruno spoke of the awards:

“At RCI, we’ve helped to make the environment a top priority, and by recognizing those resorts which have gone above and beyond expectations, there’s an even greater incentive among them to go green. We are extremely proud of our affiliates all over the world who for years have lead by example, demonstrating improved systems to help reduce waste and utility costs.”

Wyndham Waikiki Beach of Hawaii has been awarded the Silver RCI Green Award for its reduced on-site water usage by way of its irrigation system and use of native plants. They are also recognized for their Energy Star certified vending machines.

Carriage Hills Resort of Ontario, Canada has been awarded the Gold RCI Green Award because of its impressive employee participation in different community environmental events as well as the development of a “Greening Committee” which meets regularly to plan and improve their sustainability practices.

The Cliffs at Princeville was presented with the most prestigious Platinum RCI Green Award for their commitment to energy savings. The resort has been able to eliminate their air conditioner and heating units by utilizing Hawaii’s natural climate and also participates in the Hawaii Green Business Program. This state-funded program assists and recognizes businesses that work towards socially and environmentally friendly operations.

All RCI affiliates are welcomed to join the RCI Green Award program, which is free. The exchange company also offers a Green Resource Center on their affiliate website to assist businesses who are looking for ways to improve their sustainability. Applications for next year’s program will begin October 2019.
