RCI

The world’s largest external timeshare exchange program, RCI, is celebrating Earth Month with the announcement of its winners for the tenth annual RCI Green Awards program.

Three RCI-affiliated resorts received the RCI Green Awards honor because of their sustainability efforts across their resort operations which include their energy conservation, water conservation, waste management, community outreach, and environmental management. The winners are determined by third-party eco-certification expert GreenCricle Certified, LLC.

RCI North America’s Senior VP and Managing Director Richard Ruff stated:

“We’re thrilled to celebrate the ten-year milestone of the RCI Green Awards, a program that highlights our commitment to protecting the environment and challenges our affiliates to do the same. By committing to responsible operation, our affiliates are caring for the planet and the communities in which they operate. Further, investing in sustainable best practices, like those exemplified by our award winners, sets affiliates up for potential opportunities to reduce energy consumption and increase savings for years to come.”

Bluegreen Vacations Club Resort Laurel Crest in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee took home the Platinum RCI Green Award. The property has implemented impressive sustainability efforts with rain-catching devices to prevent stormwater run-off and to supplement outdoor irrigation, electric vehicle charging, solar-powered sidewalk lights, and reserved parking for green vehicles.

Club Wyndham Resort at Fairfield Glade in Crossville, Tennessee was awarded the Gold RCI Green Award. Some of their most notable sustainability efforts include water savings by eliminating the use of any irrigation system and energy savings by the use of motion sensors. The property also underwent an extensive third-party water and energy audit with the hopes of finding new ways to improve its conservation efforts in the future.

WorldMark Rancho Vistoso in Oro Valley, Arizona brought home the Silver RCI Green Award thanks to the property’s roof solar panels, solar carports, native landscaping which requires less water, butterfly garden, herb garden, and bird habitat.

All RCI-affiliated resorts are able to participate in the RCI Green Awards, free of charge. The brand also offers a Green Resource Center on its affiliate website to provide resources to developers wishing to improve their sustainability efforts.

Applications for next year’s awards begin in October of 2022.
