RCI Announces Winners of 12th Annual RCI Green Awards Program

RCI has announced the winners of the annual RCI® Green Awards program. Every year, this awards program recognizes three RCI-affiliated resorts that are leading the way in environmentally sustainable resort operations practices. Third-party eco-certification expert GreenCircle Certified, LLC determines the award winners based on nominations from RCI affiliates throughout North America.
Winners of RCI Green Awards are selected based on their level of energy and water conservation, waste management, community outreach, and environmental management.
“We’re thrilled to announce the winners of the annual RCI Green Awards and applaud these three resorts for championing sustainability in our industry,” said Richard Ruff, senior vice president and managing director of RCI North America. “By highlighting these winning efforts, we hope to inspire all resorts in the RCI network to do their part to protect the environment, while also offering unforgettable vacation experiences to owners and guests.”
The top honor in the RCI Green Awards program is the Platinum Award. This was presented to Club Wyndham Ocean Boulevard in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Club Wyndham Ocean Boulevard was recognized for its energy-efficient lighting that makes up 75% of the lighting on the property. The resort also uses renewable energy for many of its amenities and hosts a staff-led sustainability committee that meets quarterly.
The Gold RCI Green Award was given to Club Wyndham Palm-Aire in Pompano Beach, Florida. Club Wyndham Palm-Aire uses energy-efficient beverage machines throughout the property. They also have efficient shower heads, sink faucets, and toilet fixtures to promote responsible water use.
The Cliffs at Princeville in Kauai, Hawaii receive the Silver RCI Green Award. This resort uses renewable energy to minimize grid energy use. The Cliffs at Princeville also invested in third-party energy audits and connects guests with electric vehicle car rentals by the hour.
