ClubCorp Purchases Medina Golf & Country Club

ClubCorp

ClubCorp, boasting a reputation as the World Leader in Private Clubs®, has purchased the Medina Golf & Country Club in Minnesota. The addition of the formerly member-owned private club expands ClubCorp’s presence into 28 states, marking the company’s plans to increase its investments and improve newly-acquired properties.

Located just outside downtown Minneapolis, the Medina Golf & Country Club provides a championship golf course among stately and well-maintained grounds. The course has hosted several amateur golf tournaments sponsored by the Minnesota Golf Association, establishing it as one of the premier golf destinations in the state. The site also features a 45,000 square foot clubhouse with dining options and a grand ballroom. Tennis courts, swimming pools, and cross-country skiing trails also adorn the property, creating an alluring year-round destination.

Mark Burnett, chief operating officer for ClubCorp, spoke of the brand’s excitement over their newest addition:

“We are very excited to add Medina Golf & Country Club to our family of clubs. As our first club in Minnesota, and, specifically the rapidly growing Minneapolis market, Medina fits our acquisition and reinvention criteria perfectly—a beautiful family centric club, located in a growing residential community, that offers a wide range of amenities, including 18 holes of championship golf and a nine-hole par-3 where we can introduce golf to our beginners while expanding the practice opportunities for our more avid golf members.”

The addition of the Medina Golf & Country Club is part of an effort by ClubCorp to expand its catalogue of affiliated properties and invest more into renovating new acquisitions. The company plans to spend over $2.5 million reinventing the Medina club and modernizing dining and lifestyle features available to members. Work will also be added to the grounds to improve the course and practice facilities.

Michael Matthews, president of the Medina Golf Club, expressed his confidence in the merger:

“The members of Medina Golf & Country Club are thrilled to be joining the world-class portfolio of ClubCorp clubs. This transition is a win-win for our club and for ClubCorp, and most certainly for our membership. As an already thriving club, we look forward to the significant benefits, services, and investments ClubCorp will provide us to further strengthen and enrich our club and the membership experience at Medina.”
