Disney Vacation Club Timeshare Expanding with Treehouse Villas

Yesterday’s The Timeshare Authority reported on Holiday Inn jumping into the timeshare market through a relationship with Orange Lake timeshare resorts. Holiday Inn will be starting first with the Orange Lake resort in Orlando, and later moving to brand all of the Orange Lake timeshare resort properties. And despite the fact that there are already more Orlando timeshare resorts and more Orlando timeshare units than anywhere else on earth, it’s not stopping Disney Vacation Club from building two more vacation ownership resorts there.

Starting in the summer of 2009, Disney Orlando will open the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa timeshares, followed by the opening of the Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort later that year.

This post looks at the new Disney Treehouse Villas timeshares, while Monday’s post will fill you in on the high-rise Disney timeshare property at Bay Lake Tower in Orlando.

Disney Timeshare Sees Unprecedented Growth

Disney’s announcement of two new timeshare properties describes current business as, “an unprecedented era of growth for Disney Vacation Club … (and that) membership has more than doubled since 2004, expanding to include more than 350,000 individuals from approximately 100 countries and every U.S. state.”

Disney’s Orlando timeshare at Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa is the largest of the Disney Vacation Club resort properties, opening in 2004 and selling out in early 2008.

The Treehouse Villas, will expand Disney Vacation Club with 60 new three-bedroom timeshares. The timeshare villas will be elevated 10 feet above ground on pedestals and beams designed to blend into the forest-like environment along the river bend at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa. Each timeshare condo will sleep up to nine people and although the style is called “cabin casual” look for luxuries like flat-screened TVs and granite countertops.

As Disney imaginer, Todd Thomasson explains, “I was lucky enough to have a treehouse as a kid, but it was certainly nothing like this. In developing this resort, we’ve all learned a new word, ‘glamping,’ which apparently means glamorous camping. The Treehouse Villas will be glamping at its absolute best.”
