New Orlando Legal Team Specializes in Timeshares

According to the Orlando Business Journal, five Orlando attorneys who specialize in the hotel and timeshare industry have moved from the law firm of Baker & Hostetler LLP to join the Orlando office of Foley & Lardner LLP.

Foley & Lardner specializes in hotel and timeshare law. The former Baker & Hostetler firm attorneys will be joining the company’s national golf and resort industry team, where they will focus on advising clients on matters of mixed use developments, condominiums, development, structuring and financing of timeshares, fractional, and planned unit projects.

The attorneys are Dan Bachrach, Bill Guthrie, (who join as partners) Kristina Bellock and Matthew Jassak (who join as associates) and Richard Caron who is a senior counsel.

The online publication LawFuel, quoted Bill Guthrie as saying, “”We believe that Foley offered us a strong platform to service our clients on a national and international basis. Foley already maintained an excellent golf, resort, and real estate practice, which complements our experience in the hospitality and timeshare industries advising developers, hotel brands, lenders, managers, and exchange companies. The firm is aggressive and intends to grow our combined practices in a method that will provide excellent service to our clients and expand the reach of our practice.”

Sounds like everyone is happy all around. Fred Ridley, co-chair of Foley’s Golf & Resort Industry Team, expressed enthusiasm over the new team members, “Attracting attorneys of this caliber in the vacation ownership, hotel and resort industry has been a strategic priority of the firm for quite some time. This group will strengthen our industry team while solidifying Foley as one of the top resort, hospitality and golf firms in the country.”

Orlando Timeshare

Orlando is natural choice for many services that support the timeshare industry. There are more Orlando timeshares than in any other city and Orlando (or areas nearby) is home base for a number of timeshare developers and timeshare sales companies.

It is an interesting time for a law firm that specializes in resorts, golf, and timeshares to be expanding. Let’s hope this team of talented timeshare and hospitality industry attorneys will be spending most of their time dealing with timeshare growth and development, and not with unraveling problems created in the timeshare industry by slow sales and tight credit.
