According to Orbitz’s annual Insider Index, summer vacation plans are on the rise this year. The Orbitz survey of nearly 1000 US vacationers reveals that among those responding, 77 percent are definitely taking a vacation in 2012. And of those vacationing, many travelers are allotting more money to their travel budget, with 53 percent of consumers planning to spend more than $1,500 on summer vacations as compared to 39 percent in 2011. Fifty-six percent of travelers are planning to vacation by car while 39 percent will include air travel in their vacation planning.
Although glittering Las Vegas ranks tops on the vacation destination list with New York City ranking second and Orlando a close third, not everyone who heads to Las Vegas goes for the nightlife and the Vegas Strip. Everything from the recent success of the movie War Horse to the promise of the upcoming Olympics with Elizabeth ‘Beezie’ Madden vying for her fourth gold medal in London.”
