New Margaritaville Timeshare Resort to Open in Biloxi
Friday, January 3, 2014
In a press release, Margaritaville Casino & Restaurant announced plans to add a new timeshare resort to their location in Biloxi, Mississippi. The new resort will be a great addition to the existing property and will feature a spa, restaurant, and 250 guest rooms available for timeshare ownership.
The 250 new units will include 170 deluxe units and 80 two- and three-bedroom suites. The Margaritaville timeshare resort will be the first of its kind and a unique opportunity for the city of Biloxi. Developers anticipate that vacation ownership will bring a new type of traveler to this area of Mississippi.
President and CEO, Doug Shipley said, “Margaritaville Biloxi will be making a considerable investment in creating a resort destination the likes of which Biloxi has never seen. The addition of time-shares to our hotel will attract a whole new type of customer; one that’s not currently visiting the Biloxi area. It truly is an exciting opportunity for our city.”
The Margaritaville Casino Biloxi also plans to renovate and expand the existing casino. The new space will feature additional meeting space and a brand new luxury-pool and spa. The new restaurant area will include an upscale buffet and steakhouse restaurant, right on the Biloxi Bay Waterfront.
Margaritaville Biloxi also plans to utilize their location by revamping the marina and dock space. The existing marina will be redesigned to offer more secure overnight docking, and an outdoor entertainment area. This part of the expansion will offer a new resort-style pool and outdoor bar where guests can gamble and play right on the water.
Vice President of Marketing, Stacey McKay said, “We want to bring Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville state of mind into a state of being. That’s what we’re building here. A resort that lives up to the brand that is beloved around the world.”
The architect selected for the design of the new resort is the award winning Cuningham Group. The New-Orleans based McDonnel Group will act as general contractor and oversee the construction of the resort. Construction will begin in spring of 2014 and is expected to be completed about a year later.
