Orbitz Names Velas Resorts as a 2014 Best in Stay Hotels

This year, two Velas Resorts were honored with 2014 Best in Stay Awards from Orbitz. The Velas Vallarta was named one of the top hotels in Puerto Vallarta, while the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit won in the all-inclusive category.

Winners of the Orbitz Best in Stay Awards are chosen by a numerical review process. Reviews are submitted by guests who have stayed there over the past year, and then ranked by Orbitz. Within these surveys, guests are asked to provide feedback on a variety of categories including hotel staff, maintenance, amenities, comfort, value, and location. For each question, guests must rate the resort on a scale of one to five, with five being the highest.

The surveys are then reviewed by a panel of 150 Orbitz hotel experts. Next, the experts will compare these reviews against market conditions such as: booking rates, reputation of employees, and number of reviews.

In the past, Velas Resorts has earned a number of prestigious awards including AAA’s 5 Diamond Award, the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences’ 5 Star Diamond Award, Conde Nast’s “Most Excellent Spa Hotel,” and more.
