Tuesday, January 12, 2016
The Strand Hotel, located in Midtown Manhattan, will now be managed by Marriott Vacations Worldwide. Pending specific circumstances, Marriott has also agreed to purchase the 176-room hotel in phases. The first phase will begin in 2016 with plans to make The Strand part of the Marriott Vacation Club vacation ownership program.
Marriott expects this rebranding of The Strand to happen as early as March 2016 and will open its doors to Marriott Vacation Club owners soon thereafter. Reservations for the new NYC location will be offered as early as mid-February of this year for early March.
“New York City has been on our list as a destination for our Owners to explore for quite some time,” said Stephen P. Weisz, president and chief executive officer of Marriott Vacations Worldwide. “The location of this property puts our Owners right in the heart of Manhattan where they can experience firsthand the vibrant energy the city has to offer. I am excited about this opportunity as a destination for our Owners and as a new sales location, continuing our strategy of growing our network of resorts.”
