Banyan Tree Mayakoba Announces $50 Million Expansion to Open in Late 2020

As Banyan Tree Mayakoba celebrates its 10th anniversary in Riveria Maya, they have announced a $50 million expansion and renovation investment that will include several new overwater pool villas and beachfront suites, an expanded beach club, new dining options, new swimming pools, kids programming, and other amenities set to be open in late 2020.

Following the opening of the property’s new MK Blue event space just last month, Bayan Mayakoba has just revealed its plans to continue evolving its offerings and enhancing its luxury resort experience. Sordo Madaleno Architects will oversee this project which plans to combine Bayan Tree’s high standards, the warm traditions of Mexico, and the tranquility of the surrounding landscape in its designs.

Bayan Tree Mayakoba Resort General Manager Peter Hechler stated:

“It’s an exciting time as we reinvest back into the resort in honor of our 10th year. These enhancements come as a direct result of listening to our guests’ feedback. We know today’s discerning traveler is looking for high-design, private villas; innovative dining options serving fresh, local cuisine; and more robust kids’ clubs. These new villas will be a bit of a departure from the existing accommodations in terms of design, while still embracing and celebrating our unique natural setting in a new way. We’re proud to evolve and grow while maintaining the same level of luxury service and intimacy that our guests expect.”

The five-star resort will be adding 40 new units to their portfolio that will be decorated with a simple sophistication that highlights the property’s natural surroundings. Traditional Mexican art, tropical woods, marble, and a focus on indoor/outdoor living will create a peaceful retreat for all.
