Sunset Fishermen Beach Resort, located in Playa del Carmen, is set to open its doors on October 31, 2020, after being closed for seven months due to the pandemic. Currently, the resort staff is preparing with maintenance, cleaning, and staff training in the new COVID-19 Hygiene, Sanitation and Security Protocol (HSS) protocols to protect all employees and guests.
The staff training protocols come recommended by the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Health. These measures include basic protection instructions such as the correct use of personal protective equipment, installation of sterilizers at the resort entrances and throughout the property, and the use of digital thermometers to detect possible cases. Employees will also receive training on specific protocols to keep their individual work stations safe.
Sunset Fishermen Beach Resort has been recognized for many years with the Distinctive H, the highest certification granted by the Secretaries of Tourism and Health to hotels and restaurants that meet the strictest standards of safety and hygiene.
The property has also received the RCI Gold Crown award every year since opening in 1999. This year, Sunset Fishermen Beach Resort received the Excellence in Service award for the first time and received the Safe Travels seal from the World Travel and Tourism Council and is in the process of evaluation to obtain the Health Protection and Prevention Certification from the state of Quintana Roo.
“We are very happy about Sunset Fishermen reopening, as requested by our members and guests,” commented Lic. Martha Richardson, Sunset World Group’s Corporate Operations Director, “Covid-19 protocols are being implemented and we will welcome our members and guests back safely and enthusiastically,” she added.
