New Leadership Announces Rebrand to Canadian Resort and Travel Association

The Canadian Vacation Ownership Association has officially rebranded as the Canadian Resort and Travel Association (CRTA) under the new leadership of Gaetan Babin, who is now the organization’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

The Canadian Vacation Ownership Association, the only one of its kind in Canada, has brought together development companies, management firms, resorts, exchange companies, service providers, suppliers, and similarly aligned professional organizations to network and foster business growth since 1980.

The association now enters a new era as Canadian Resort and Travel Association with its new leadership and more broadened objectives.

Gaetan Babin is a native of Canada and has more than 25 years of domestic and international experience in the vacation ownership industry. He took the position as President and CEO in January of 2021.

He has hit the ground running in his new position, overseeing the rebrand and reinvigorating the membership base in readiness for a post-pandemic boom. Babin also just attended the GNEX 2021 Conference where he attracted new members to the association.

Gaetan Babin commented on his history with the Canadian Resort Association, saying:

“My first introduction to the Canadian Resort Association, CRDA was in the mid 1990’s. I was impressed with the Association’s mission to support Vacation Ownership developments in Canada and committing its members to an extremely strict code of ethics and transparency. Since 1980, CRDA has advocated for countless issues, including consumer protection and operating guidelines that are designed to protect members as well as consumer. The healthy relationship we maintain with other international Trade Association such as ARDA, our American counterpart, is crucial to our sustainability and ability to adapt to changes. It remains our duty to follow and promote ethical operating guidelines while being the glue between Vacation Clubs, Resorts, and all affiliates, financial aids, and vendors. Since many Canadians own and continue to show interest in Memberships and Timeshares south of our border, mainly in the US, Mexico, and the Caribbean, we are focusing on establishing the same relationships that we have in Canada with Resorts and Vacation Ownership properties and Clubs in these countries. When a Canadian family is considering a Vacation Membership or Ownership opportunity at a Resort that is affiliated with CRTA, it gives them assurance and comfort that these properties abide by the CRTA’s code of ethics, the industry’s highest standards. As we celebrate our 41st year as an Association, I welcome you to contact us and view the benefits of our proud Canadian Trade Association.”

The Canadian Resort and Travel Association provides a wealth of knowledge within its membership base, all of whom are held to the highest ethical standards possible in the timeshare and resort development industry. CRTA member companies are comprised of vacation industry resort operators and service providers from Canada, USA, Mexico, The Caribbean, and beyond whose customers include Canadian travelers.
