Just last night, Walt Disney World announced that all of its resorts, including the Disney Vacation Club properties and Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, will close by 5:00 PM EST on Friday, March 20 due to growing concerns regarding the Coronavirus.

As we enter the year 2020, we are looking ahead at exciting things. As always, Disney has some new additions and transformations for DVC owners to keep an eye on. In addition to the recently opened DVC resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, there are some more great features for DVC owners to look forward to. Here is what we know about the upcoming Marvel-themed ‘Avengers Campus’ park and the Epcot park total transformation.

Disney Vacation Club welcomed its first guests to Disney’s Riviera Resort on December 16 at Walt Disney World Resort. As the newest of 15 properties, important members of the brand’s executive team celebrated with a dedication ceremony on the resort’s promenade with Cast Members, guests, and media in attendance. Welcome and dedication remarks were given by DVC’s Senior VP and General Manager Terri Schultz and Senior VP of Resorts, Premium Services, Disney Springs and Sports at Walt Disney World Thomas Mazloum. Disney Vacation Club has updated its 2021 points chart to “encourage travel throughout the year with the goal of improving availability.” As such, the points charts will change the verbiage from “seasons” to “travel periods.” This will only be in effect at Walt Disney World resorts.
