Occupancies for Sunset World Resorts Reach All Time High

Sunset World Resorts & Vacation ExperienceThe CEO of Sunset World Resorts & Vacation Experiences announced that record high occupancy rates were reached in 2013. An average annual occupancy rate of 85% was recorded across the six Sunset World Cancun and Riviera Maya properties.

The announcement of the company’s success came during their annual Rosca de Reyes breakfast, a holiday event to celebrate Three Kings Day. On this day, the company gathers to share traditional rosca bread (a Mexican pastry also known as “Three Kings Bread”) and look back on the previous year.

Sunset World resorts include: Hacienda Tres Rios Resort, Ocean Spa, Spa & Nature Park, Laguna Suites, Sunset Marina Resort & Yacht Club, Sunset Fishermen Resort, and Sunset Royal Beach Resort. In 2014, Sunset World hopes to continue this trend as they expand with even more destinations.

Sunset World Resorts CEO Arroyo Marroquín shared, “With pride I can say that we were not the only ones with a good year. Cancun and the Riviera Maya also had an excellent 2013, almost the same as 2012, the best year we have had.”

He shared that their original occupancy goal in 2013 was 83%. Marroquín felt the company did a great job in surpassing this goal, reaching up to 98% occupancy in some of the higher-demand seasons. The resorts also showed a great mix of diversity in travelers. Occupancy consisted of 38% hotel guests and 62% timeshare owners. Many world travelers came to the resort, with nationalities consisting of 40% American, 26% Mexican, 22% Latin American, 11% Canadian, and 2% other.

Later, plans were announced for new projects in 2014 including a new resort in the Tres Rios complex. Sunset World also plans to increase their promotional efforts in the U.S. and Canada, and build new offices in South America.

“Colombia represents 60 percent of the South American market for us and we are going to reinforce our office in Brazil. In Venezuela, we are initiating a new venture with Erika Garcia, CEO of Yucatan Holidays,” said Marroquín.

Sunset World Resorts also plans to create new event traditions, like the Rosca de Reyes breakfast. These new events will be for both timeshare owners and hotel guests staying at the resorts. An exciting new event will include the Mayan Tibetan Festival, which will showcase traditional ceremonies and celebrate the cultures of both groups.

Palace Resorts Completes Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort Renovations

Palace Resorts Completes Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort Renovations

Moon Palace Resort & Spa CancunThis week, Palace Resorts revealed the new renovations at their signature resort, Moon Palace Golf & Spa. The Mexican timeshare and hotel company owns 7 resorts across Mexico, including this all-inclusive location in Cancun.

When the resort was first constructed, it was designed to feature three unique sections: Moon Grand, Nizuc, and Sunrise. The recent $22 Million update was to the Nizuc section of the resort.

Updates to Nizuc include renovation of the main lobby, 120 guest rooms, new resort-style pool, dining areas, salon, fitness center, and the grand Tortugas Ballroom. Moon Palace also plans to update their event and meeting space. This year they will create the Moon Palace Arena, a 140,000 square ft. convention center.

Executive Vice President of Palace Resorts, Gibran Chapur shared,

“As we begin 2014, the Palace Resorts family is eager to enter into Moon Palace’s next chapter and further our brand’s mission of taking our ‘awe-inclusive’ concept to new heights through exciting initiatives and additions including the recent completion of Nizuc’s enhancement project. Undeniably Cancun’s entertainment destination, Moon Palace is beloved by guests from around the world in large part due to our unprecedented offerings, sensational entertainment and the high quality of our products. We are pleased to continue to raise the bar and redefine the notion of what an all-inclusive experience can and should offer.”

The design for the main lobby was created by the Miami-based nightclub architect Francois Frossard. True to Frossard’s style, the new lobby offers a unique interior design of modern glamour. This new look is one that many resorts have adopted in the past couple of years, as many resorts have moved away from traditional décor.

When you arrive at the resort, you are greeted by a massive space with high ceilings with large, colorful artwork. As you look around, trendy fixtures such as ivory elephant tusks, dazzling chandeliers, and unusual light fixtures garnish the space.

Moon Palace Golf & Spa has also updated amenities to improve guest’s overall experience. The latest dining option added to the resort is “The Pub”, an Irish-style bar and restaurant. The Pub will feature a very traditional tavern-style, outfitted with mahogany and vintage décor.

For a more family-friendly atmosphere, the resort has added a new mini-golf course and a new kids club. “The Playroom” offers an imaginative space for kids to laugh and play while their parents enjoy adults-only time. Supervised by the resort’s friendly staff, the new space features 11 games rooms, movie theater, a play beauty salon, dollhouse, mini runway, play kitchen, and craft area. For the older kids, the new Xbox room should be a popular destination, offering gaming chairs and an arcade close by.

Outside The Playroom, a new playground will offer kids the chance to sail the seven seas aboard an impressive pirate ship. This area also features a new sandbox area and mini soccer field.

To celebrate the new additions to the resort, Moon Palace has invited entertainers and musical acts to perform on site. From January 20th to April 30th, the magician and sleight-of-hand artist, Ryan Oakes will perform. February 14–15 the band Chicago will give a musical performance, followed by Grammy-Award winner Michael Bolton on March 29–30.
