Vistana Signature Experiences Takes Home ARDA Awards

Vistana Signature Experiences, the newly-formed resort developer formerly known as Starwood Vacation Ownership, took home several American Resort Development Association (ARDA) awards at the special event last month. Most notably, the brand accepted the Circle of Excellence Community Service and Philanthropic award for its efforts at the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas in Kauai.

The ARDA Awards are held annually, and serve to recognize exceptional performances in the vacation ownership and resort development industries. This year’s event, held last month in New Orleans, saw Vistana Signature Experiences claim a number of distinctions, with the Circle of Excellence (or “ACE”) award being the most prestigious. The ACE Community Service and Philanthropic Award bestowed on the Westin Princeville resort recognizes outstanding contribution to the property’s local community—the Westin resort regularly conducts charitable efforts and events throughout Kauai, and has raised more than $400,000 for local charities since it opened nine years ago.

Specifically, the Westin Princeville Ocean Resort Villas organizes the annual Jazz & Wine Festival, which raises funds for the Kauai Lifeguard Association. The property also holds yearly charity golf tournaments, charity walks, and bestows scholarships for their associates and their families.

Stephen Williams, COO of Vistana Signature Experiences, spoke to the importance of the Westin’s commitment to communities around Kauai:

Three Vistana employees were also recognized in addition to the Westin’s ACE award. John Jones of the Sheraton Vistana Resort in Orlando earned a distinction as a Resort Assistant Manager, Jackie Knorr was recognized for her efforts in Human Resources, and Ariadne Samaniego was also recognized within the Training and Development Manager or Team category.

Williams concluded by asserting the importance of Vistana’s exemplary employee dedication:
