ARDA Highlights Vacation Innovations’ Expansion of Maintenance Fee Protection Program Amid Rising Demand
Monday, June 2, 2025

The American Resort Development Association (ARDA) recently spotlighted the growing impact of Vacation Innovations’ Maintenance Fee Protection program, an initiative designed to ease the financial burden on timeshare owners while supporting the stability of timeshare homeowners’ associations (HOAs).
Unpaid maintenance fees have long been a challenge in the timeshare industry, creating a financial ripple effect for resorts and other owners. Vacation Innovations responded with a consumer-focused solution: a program that reimburses owners who can’t use their timeshare intervals or points—even after paying their maintenance fees. These unused stays are then leveraged across the company’s travel and loyalty platforms, creating a sustainable system that benefits both owners and the industry at large.
Since its launch in late 2022, the program has experienced dramatic growth. In 2023, it delivered $600,000 in reimbursements. By 2024, that figure had jumped to over $5.4 million, with projections of more than $10 million in reimbursements expected in 2025. Submission volume followed a similar trajectory, growing from 500 deposits in 2023 to over 3,300 in 2024.
Beyond providing financial relief for owners, the program is a strategic asset for developers and HOAs. It helps reduce delinquencies, improve owner satisfaction, and increase retention. Vacation Innovations offers the program as a turnkey solution, supported by a robust legal and operational infrastructure, making it easy to integrate into existing systems and developer offerings.
“Because we offer services directly to timeshare owners, as well as myriad solutions for our resort and developer partners, we have unmatched visibility into the concerns and attitudes of today’s timeshare owner,” says Chad Newbold, CEO of Vacation Innovations. “This insider knowledge uniquely positions us to serve both as a champion for the consumer and an ally to the industry. Our focus has and always will be designing products and services that align with the needs of timeshare owners and the industry alike.”
In addition to the Maintenance Fee Protection program, Vacation Innovations continues to provide a wide range of services tailored to developers, including:
The ARDA article positions Maintenance Fee Protection not just as a temporary relief measure but as a long-term industry innovation—one that’s reshaping how developers, HOAs, and owners navigate the evolving landscape of vacation ownership.
