For the eighth year in a row, the United States timeshare industry has seen growth. This study and information is from the State of the Vacation Timeshare Industry: United States Study 2018 Edition, and is conducted by EY for the ARDA International Foundation (AID). In 2017, sales volume increased nearly four percent to $9.6 billion. Average occupancy rate was over 81 percent as well.

The newest addition to the Westin Hotels & Resorts family, The Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa, announced its opening date for July 12, 2018. The Marriott’s International, Inc. subsidiary will have 208 rooms which includes 28 spacious suites with ocean views. It’s Mediterranean-inspired design will encompass guest rooms up to 1,309 square feet, a 5,200 square foot restaurant, other dining options, a fitness studio, a rooftop terrace, and a luxury spa. Timbers Resorts has officially opened the first phase of their $800 million Timbers Kauai – Ocean Club & Residences at Hokuala. This project is just beginning, but has so far reached $50 million in sales for whole and fractional ownership units.

During Tianguis Turístico, Mexico’s most important tourism event last month, El Cid Marina Beach Hotel of the El Cid Resorts and El Cid Vacations Club brand received the highest certification of sustainability from the Mexico Ministry of Tourism.
