Lights Out! at Wyndham Headquarters

Wyndham Worldwide has announced that they will once again participate in the annual Earth Hour event.

Earth Hour was created by the World Wildlife Foundation back in 2007 to promote energy conservation and other environmental causes. Essentially, during Earth Hour, participants are encouraged to turn off their lights and electronics for 60 minutes. This year’s event will take place on March 28th from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Wyndham will support the global initiative for energy conservation by turning off their lights at the Wyndham Worldwide headquarters in Parsippany, New Jersey. Employees will be encouraged to power down their computers and turn off lights before they leave the office. Wyndham is also suggesting that their properties turn off all non-essential lighting and promote candlelight dinners for guests.

As one of the largest hospitality brands in the world, Wyndham is not only a leader in the timeshare industry, but a leader in green practices as well. The timeshare and hospitality brand works consistently to reduce their global footprint and conserve resources.

For example, in 2013, Wyndham reduced carbon emissions by 13% and reduced water per square foot by 16%. Many of these efforts are thanks to Wyndham Green, the company’s sustainability program. Established in 2006, Wyndham Green has helped the entire Wyndham corporation to “go green,” including Wyndham Vacation Ownership and Wyndham Hotel Group properties.

While Wyndham demonstrates sustainable customs year round, this will be the 6th year that they have participated in the Earth Hour event.

Faith Taylor, Senior VP of corporate social responsibility at Wyndham Worldwide, shared,

“As a global hospitality leader with businesses across virtually every segment of hospitality, we have an ever increasing opportunity, and responsibility as a corporate citizen, to be a leader in reducing our impact on the environment.”

“Corporate Social Responsibility remains among our top strategic intents, and not only do we measure success on our results, but also on the responsible way in which we achieve those results. It is critical to the success of our business and our ability to meet our customers’ growing needs and expectations. Our participation in the Earth Hour global initiative is just one way we help raise awareness of the importance of energy conservation and our commitment to sustainable business practices across our properties.”

DAE Members Rank Top British Timeshare Resorts

The timeshare exchange company, DAE, recently invited their members to rank their favorite British timeshare resorts. Members who had traveled to a U.K. timeshare in the last year were asked to vote for their favorite resort, and share some benefits of the property. After the votes were collected and tallied, DAE announced the top 3 timeshare resorts in the U.K.

DAE members voted the Seasons at Clowance Estate & Country Club as their third favorite resort. Located in Camborne, Cornwall, the Clowance Estate sits on 97 acres of beautiful English countryside. The estate offers a variety of rooms including lodges, villas, golf condos, and the historic Coach House. DAE members particularly enjoyed the resort’s decor and amenities. While staying at the resort, guests can play golf, tennis, croquet, basketball, and more. The resort also has many activities for outdoorsy travelers including fishing, hiking, and rowing.

In second favorite resort was The Osborne Club in Devon. Just a short ride from Torquay, The Osborne Club is in close proximity to the busy city, but still offers a secluded retreat. The resort itself is designed in a way which allows almost every guest room to have a panoramic view of the English Riviera. Inside the resort, you’ll find luxury apartments filled with modern amenities. Here, DAE guests raved about the upscale furnishings, restaurants, and the Hesketh Health Club.

The winner of the most popular timeshare resort in the U.K. was actually a tie! Both the Loch Rannoch Highland Club and the Barnsdale Hall & Country Club were both voted as the top British resort. Located in Kinloch Rannoch, the Loch Rannoch Highland Club provides a great variety of lodging options and stunning views of the Loch. The Barnsdale Hall & Country Club is a boutique resort that is perfect for a classic, yet luxurious British Holiday. The grounds feature beautiful gardens, golf, and stables. Guests can choose to stay in a cottage along the Rutland Waterside or in the resort’s original hunting lodge.

DAE managing director Europe, Oliver Green, said, “Congratulations to all the resorts our members have chosen as the best of British. We asked members to select their favourite resorts as we always value their views. The best holiday recommendations are from ‘holidaymakers’ themselves so it made perfect sense for our members to help us identify Britain’s best resorts. We hope it will also help fellow members, who have not yet visited these resorts, make up their minds about their next UK holiday destination.”
