Tuesday, March 25, 2014
The Dover House Resort, located in Delray Beach, Florida has received the prestigious Florida Green Lodging Certification.
Presented by the Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida Green Lodging Program, the certification is given to resorts that excel in ecofriendly operations. By adhering to the department’s environmental standards and sustainability practices, the resort is helping to conserve energy and reduce waste.
Dover House, owned and operated by Landex Resorts International, Inc., is excited to receive this respected award. Dover House General Manager, Leonardo Dahbur commented, “This award is an exciting time for the resort. We work very hard to bring great customer service, communicate our initiatives to our guests and create the tropical look and feel they expect while they are in Florida.”
Recently, Dover House underwent renovations to update a selection of the units. In addition to cosmetic changes, many of the unit appliances were updated to be Energy Star certified. This update is greatly supported by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as the state even offers a tax deduction for these purchases. The resort is enjoying the benefits as well.
VP of Landex and community association manager at Dover House, Robyn Rocco said “Since the renovation, the measured environmental and financial outcome has saved the resort 40% on their utility and energy operating expenses.”
Certification is based on a variety of practices including waste reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, indoor air quality, preservation, and educating customers on efficient practices.
President of Landex, Ruth Anglickis shared,
“We will continue to expand our sustainable and ‘green’ efforts at Dover House to provide our guests with environmentally responsible surroundings. We are excited to share our best management practices with timeshare properties in Florida who understand that now is the right time to make smart choices for sustainable practices and consumer awareness programs. There is an increasing demand in the timeshare and resort marketplace to improve visibility through sustainable and conservation measures. We are proud to be part of these conscientious efforts.”
The Dover House Resort will continue to maintain their new Green Lodging Certification by continuing these practices. For more information, visit DoverHouseResort.com.
