Bluegreen Corporation and Bluegreen timeshare recently hosted the 14th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Bluegreen timeshare, a recognized leader in vacation ownership marketing, sales, and hospitality, raised more than $58,000 through the event to benefit JDRF and Christel House Charities.

Played at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, (Florida) not far from the corporate headquarters of Bluegreen timeshare, the event was a four-person scramble with  prizes awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place foursomes with the lowest gross scores, as well as longest drive, closest to the pin, and hole in one.

“We are extremely pleased with the results of this year’s tournament,” said Ellen Devine, executive assistant to the CEO of Bluegreen, and head of the company’s Bluegreen Employee Action Resource (BEAR) Team. We truly have a good thing going in this annual tournament. Philanthropy is in the company’s DNA and it shows in the associate’s participation in events like these.”

Twelve associates from the Bluegreen timeshare office in nearby Boca Raton office volunteered at the Tournament. Across the US, several Bluegreen timeshare resorts host local golf tournaments to benefit Christel House. Included are RCI Christel House Open Tournaments scheduled for:

  • Sunday, June 9, Daytona Beach, Florida
  • Monday June 10 Murrels Inlet, South Carolina
  • Monday June 10 Hollister, Missouri
  • Monday June 10 Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Becky Arnett, Director of Timeshare Development for Christel House says, “We are so grateful for the generous support Bluegreen provides to Christel House. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and working with a number of Bluegreen Associates on fundraising initiatives, including the annual RCI Christel House Open. The Bluegreen Associates take their commitment to Christel House seriously and work hard to ensure that each tournament is a resounding success for the sponsors and players and especially in the funds raised for our Christel House students.

Arnett goes on to add, “This is the 11th year of the tournament, and I am still surprised at the amount of creativity and effort that go into the planning and implementation of each tournament. Each tournament has its own unique personality and traditions that the players look forward to each year – from the Casino Night and auction at the Boca Raton tournament to ‘Harold’s mom’ – the mother of the Daytona GM who has a home at the golf course and hands out snacks and cold drinks to the players. All of those extra touches ensure that the tournament is a success. You can’t ask for a better corporate donor. It truly is an honor to be one of Bluegreen’s charities of choice. I am also grateful that several Bluegreen Associates have taken the time to visit our learning centers and meet the very children that you help support. Thank you Bluegreen!”

Two Marriott timeshare resorts, part of Marriott Vacation Club, have announced new options for golf instruction. Both Marriott’s Grande Vista resort, an Orlando, Florida timeshare, and Marriott’s Shadow Ridge resort, a Palm Desert, California timeshare are now home to the new Marriott Golf Academy.

Formerly know as the Faldo Golf Institute, the two new homes for Marriott Golf Instruction are debuting with special introductory pricing and packages for 2- and 3-day golf schools and 3-hour sessions. The introductory pricing is good starting May 1 through September 30, 2013, which means if you are planning a summer timeshare vacation at Marriott’s Grande Vista timeshare or Marriott’s Shadow Ridge timeshare, then you’ll be staying at the perfect place to enjoy both great golf and great golf instruction.

But golf instruction at the new Marriott Golf Academy is not limited to guests and owners of Marriott timeshare. You could work some valuable one-on-one or golf school time into your Orlando or Palm Desert vacation, even if you are vacationing at another timeshare or resort and still take advantage of the reduced introductory pricing.

When it comes to golf instruction, Marriott Golf Academy offers instructional programs for beginners to advanced golfers. Golfers can choose 2- and 3-day golf schools; 3-hour full swing & short game sessions; private lessons; on-course instruction; corporate programs; junior programs;  and a selection of programs and services from the Club Fitter’s Workshop.

Beautiful Marriott Timeshare Resorts

Not only are Marriott’s Grande Vista resort and Marriott’s Shadow Ridge resort located in the popular vacation destinations of Orlando, FL and Palm Desert, CA respectively, but they are each uniquely beautiful resorts. Offering spacious one-, two-, and three-bedroom golf villas, these are resorts vacationers love, even if golf’s not their thing.

Iguanas at Doral Golf Resort

Don’t worry… they are friendly. Some golf fans (and tournament officials) at this week’s WGC-Cadillac Championship, along with hotel and Doral, Florida timeshare guests, have been taken aback by the iguanas that live at the golf course. The locals stroll by them casually, unperturbed by the over-sized reptiles, but the iguanas that range in color from tan to chartreuse to vivid orange, have been known to startle unsuspecting hotel and timeshare guests and golfers on the famous Doral golf courses. They seem to have even gotten the best of some of the pros playing in this week’s PGA Tour event there, the WGC-Cadillac Championship, the golf tournament known for many years at the Doral Championship.

Typically, the iguanas are quiet observers, doing little more than taking in the sunshine. Occasionally a territorial dispute will ensue between two rowdy male iguanas, but most of the time these herbivores want nothing more than to observe passersby, nibble a few leaves, and soak up as much sunshine as possible. A few years ago, when temperatures dipped unseasonably low in tropical Miami, vacationers were startled to see iguanas falling from the trees. This happens as a natural response designed to protect iguanas from cold temperatures; their bodies simply drop into a state of deep sleep allowing them to focus energy on staying warm rather than on other body functions. Unfortunately, if the sleep state occurs while the iguana is resting on a tree branch, they almost always lose their balance and fall to the ground. Luckily for the iguanas, they are typically not hurt by this and later awaken when the temperatures around them start to rise. (See: Is it Raining Iguanas at Your Florida Timeshare?)

To go with sunshine, nearby beaches, nightlife of Miami Beach, and world-class golf, the Doral Golf Resort timeshares offer something most other resorts can’t:  some very fascinating resident reptiles.

More about Marriott Vacation Club and Winnie Palmer Hospital

Last summer, Marriott Vacations Worldwide (often called Marriott Vacation Club) announced that it would focus resources on supporting a charitable initiative to benefit the Greater Orlando Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraising efforts towards the expansion of The Alexander Center for Neonatology (NICU) at the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies.

A portion of the neonatology unit expansion will be recognized as the “Marriott Vacations Worldwide NICU-Pod” memorializing the commitment by Marriott timeshare to helping children, including the tiniest newborns being born in Central Florida. Marriott Vacations Worldwide has committed to raise more than $1 million to benefit the program.

Marriott Vacation Club Owners and guests at the seven Central Florida Marriott timeshare resorts are being given the opportunity to get involved by rounding-up their final folio balance to the nearest dollar, with the additional funds supporting the campaign. Additionally, guests will be able to donate their spare change to the campaign by leaving it in special envelopes upon checkout.
